MCRFD urges caution when burning

With outdoor burning season open, the Mill City Rural Fire Department wants to remind residents of proper burning protocol.

“Everyone needs to remember that when you burn there are certain things that must happen,” MCRFD said in a press release.

Always call the burn line before you burn to make sure it is a burn day and find out the hours the Department of Enviromental Quality set for the day.

Burn small piles so that you do not burn past the designated time.

Never leave your pile unattended and always make sure you have a water supply ready in case your fire decides that it wants to move from the designated area.

“Leaving your burn pile unattended just for a few minutes can potentially cause a spreading fire,” the department wrote.

The burn information number is 877-982-0011. The Mill City Fire Hall number is 503-897-2390.
