MCRFD collecting old Christmas trees

The Mill City Rural Fire Department will be collecting unwanted Christmas trees Saturday, Jan. 7, to both remove these potential fire hazards and generate support for the local food bank.

Tree removal begins at 9 a.m. and the cost is four cans of food, or similar non-perishable items, to be donated to the food bank.

Supplies at the food bank are often low following the holidays, said Mill City officials in their monthly newsletter, and donations gathered Saturday will help replenish their reserves.

Interested residents can call the Mill City Fire Hall at 503-897-2390 to be placed on the list for pickup. Just leave a message with your name, address and the location of the tree.
