Detroit, Lyons hosts Christmas decorating contests

The Detroit Lake Foundation is sponsoring Operation Light Up Detroit for the Holidays, a Christmas light decorating contest this December.

The winner of the Best Holiday Light Display Award will receive a commemorative plaque, a yard sign announing their win, a shout out on social media and a special Detroit Rock.

The judging will occur on the evening of the city’s tree lighting, Dec. 2. The winner will be announced Dec. 3.

The city of Lyons is hosting its ninth annual Holiday Lighting Contest. All residences in the Lyons city limits are eligible. 

Residents can nominate their favorite decorated house by Dec. 15, and the winner is announced Dec. 19.

Nominations can be submitted to City of Lyons, 449 Fifth St., and [email protected].
