In Memoriam: Troy Allen Hookland (May 6, 1965 – Aug. 28, 2022)

Troy Allen Hookland, 57, passed away suddenly Aug. 28, 2022 in his home near Scio.

Troy was born on May 6, 1965, to Richard and Carol (Bickford) Hookland in Eugene. He grew up in Creswell with his two sisters, Sherry and Kimberly.

Troy’s two prior marriages blessed him with four daughters – three from his first marriage and one from his second.

Troy’s girls will remember him as a fun dad who taught them how to shoot, clean a fish, change their oil and tires, ride ATVs, sew a button, and mow the lawn.

Throughout his career, Troy held millwright positions in the lumber, production, and specialty alloys sectors.

He loved the challenge of diagnosing complex mechanical problems and coming up with creative solutions, was a highly skilled welder, and held many specialty certifications in his field.

Troy enjoyed working on cars, building things for his grandkids, hunting and fishing.

He will be remembered by family and friends as a generous person with a big heart, a smart-aleck with a joke or a prank always up his sleeve, a big fan of classic rock and a bad dancer, and an avid tinkerer who always had more projects than time to finish them.

Troy is survived by his mother, Carol; sisters, Sherry and Kimberly; daughters, Jennifer Clemo, Rebekah Leeper, Samantha Hookland, and Trista Teeters; and seven grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his father and a baby brother.
