March 5

Theft, 8:04 a.m., Main Street, Lyons. Theft of utility trailer valued at $1,200. Ongoing investigation.

Burglary, 8:58 a.m., SW Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Deputy investigated and found items missing from residence.

Welfare Check, 11:24 a.m., SW Ivy Street, Mill City. Everyone was happy and healthy.

Warrant, 12:02 p.m., Main Street, Lyons. Male, 44, of Mill City was arrested on an outstanding warrant and cited for possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl. He was lodged at Linn County Jail.

Fraud, 12:21 p.m., Sixth Street, Lyons. Report of fraudulent activity on a man’s credit report.

Citizen Contact, 4:49 p.m., North Santiam Highway/SE Gates Hill Road, Gates. Deputies spoke with a citizen regarding ongoing investigation.

Intoxicated Subject, 5:49 p.m., NW First Avenue, Scio. Disturbance caused by drunk roommate. No crimes.

Suspicious Person, 5:59 p.m., N First Avenue/NE Wall Street, Mill City. Male trespassing at city park after hours. Warned and left the area.

Elder Abuse, 7:48 p.m., NW Alder Street, Mill City. Deputies conducted a welfare check on possible elder abuse. No criminal elements were disclosed.

March 6

Civil Dispute, 8:07 a.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Property owner wanted to report damage to his rental by tenants. 

Dog Complaint, 10:28 p.m., SW Broadway Street, Mill City.

Animal Complaint, 12:56 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Deputy conducted a welfare check on horses near Lyons. No crimes.

Traffic Stop, 1:41 p.m., Richardson Gap Road, Scio. Driver cited for cellphone violation.

Traffic Complaint, 2:48 p.m., Fish Hatchery Drive, Scio. Report of speeding vehicles in the area. Described vehicles were gone upon deputy’s arrival.

Traffic Stop, 9:37 p.m., SW Linn Blvd./SW Eighth Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for improper display.

Traffic Stop, 10:12 p.m., NE Alder Street, Mill City. Driver warned for equipment violation.

Extra Patrol, 10:33 p.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Kimmel Park. Nothing suspicious found.

Traffic Stop, 1:24 a.m., SW Broadway Street/S First Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for failure to provide proof of insurance.

Traffic Stop, 2:06 a.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Driver cited for driving while suspended violation and driving uninsured.

Traffic Stop, 2:38 a.m., S First Avenue/SE Hazel Street, Mill City. Driver warned for unsignaled left-hand turn.

Traffic Stop, 3:02 a.m., Highway 22, Mill City. Cited for driving while suspended, failure to carry proof of insurance.

Extra Patrol, 4:24 a.m., Neal Park Road, Lyons. John Neal Park. Nothing suspicious found.

Event Detail, 8:05 a.m., N Main Street, Scio. Career presentation at Scio High.

Suspicious Circumstances, 8:18 a.m., Ridge Drive, Scio. Caller reported possibly identity theft but then learned there is no evidence suggesting ID theft and it was a misunderstanding.

Hit and Run, 11:15 a.m., SW Spring Street, Mill City. Caller reported someone drove through her yard overnight, damaging shrubbery and yard items. Neighbors didn’t recall hearing anything suspicious and no cameras caught the action.

Dog Complaint, 5:12 p.m., 14th and Dogwood streets, Lyons. Deputies searched area and learned where the dog should belong. Deputies never saw the dog and forwarded information to Dog Control.

911 Hang-up, 8:16 p.m., Stayton-Scio Road, Scio. False 911 call from elderly male who was found to be well.

Suspicious Vehicle, 9:52 p.m., Fairview Street, Mill City. Vehicle and occupants were warned of trespass from private property.

March 8

Extra Patrol, 1:37 a.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Kimmel Park. Nothing suspicious found.

Traffic Stop, 1:56 a.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Driver cited for driving while suspended violation.

Traffic Stop, 2:23 a.m., N First Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for failure to signal prior to 100 feet of turn.

Traffic Stop, 3:44 a.m., NE Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Driver warned for speed.

Traffic Stop, 3:58 a.m., NE Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Driver cited for driving while suspended violation and failure to carry proof of insurance.

Suspicious Vehicle, 4:48 a.m., Highway 226, Scio. Occupants in vehicle were warned of trespassing at ODOT scales.

Theft, 10:26 a.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. $10-12 worth of items stolen. Ongoing investigation.

Assist Other Agency, 2:18 p.m., SE Juniper Street, Mill City. Deputies assisted school district to serve a truancy citation.

Death Investigation, 2:43 p.m., Holley Court, Lyons. Elderly male with several health problems died. Death appears to be from natural causes.

Explosion, 7:51 p.m., SE Willow Street, Idanha. Report of an explosion in the area. No signs of an explosion were seen, only heard and felt. Deputies searched the area extensively and were unable to locate any signs or evidence of an explosion. Neighbors were told to call back if they heard another explosion.

Extra Patrol, 10:44 p.m., SW Third Avenue, Mill City. Nothing suspicious observed.

Traffic Stop, 11:18 p.m., SW Broadway Street, Mill City. Driver warned for failure to obey traffic control device.

Shots Heard, 11:42 p.m., Valley View Road, Scio. Deputies responded to call of shots in county. Reporting party advised of legality. Deputies checked the area to ensure everything was OK.

March 9

Park Patrol, 12:32 a.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Kimmel Park. Nothing suspicious found.

Extra Patrol, 12:48 a.m., Richardson Gap Road, Scio. Extra patrol at a property where a burglary recently occurred. There were no indications of any problems.

Animal Complaint, 9:03 a.m., Main Street, Lyons. Female, 45, of Lyons was cited in lieu of custody for an outstanding warrant and warned for dog at large.

Traffic Stop, 11:08 a.m., SE Kingwood and SE Third avenues, Mill City. Driver warned for speed.

Traffic Stop, 11:15 a.m., SE Kingwood and SE Third avenues, Mill City. Driver warned for speed.

Traffic Stop, 11:17 a.m., Highway 226/Montgomery Drive, Scio. Driver cited for speed.

Welfare Check, 11:30 a.m., W Main Street, Lyons. Subject was happy and healthy.

Traffic Stop, 2:18 p.m., Jefferson-Scio Drive, Scio. Driver cited for speed.

Traffic Stop, 2:28 p.m., Jefferson-Scio Drive, Scio. Driver cited for driving uninsured.

Extra Patrol, 3:19 p.m., Hungry Hill Drive, Scio.

Motorist Assist, 4:08 p.m., Mad Creek Road/E Gates Bridge, Gates. Deputy responded to report of vehicle with two adults and three children stuck in the snow. Caller did not check on them and had no descriptions or contact information. Deputy checked Mad Creek up to the point where it was clear no other vehicles had passed for several days.  Did not locate any stuck vehicles or people in distress.

Suspicious Circumstances, 6:18 p.m., Monument Peak Road, Gates. Deputy contacted three males pulling carts into the woods. They were polite and cooperative, and stated they were setting up for a night of snow camping. The carts were indeed full of camping equipment and there were no signs of criminal activity.

Accident, 7:23 p.m., SW Third Avenue/SW Broadway Street, Mill City. Motorcycle accident. Medics arrived and operator chose to drive themselves to the hospital. Deputies contacted local hospital and male had not arrived.

Noise Disturbance, 9:59 p.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Loud music stopped prior to deputies’ arrival.

Suspicious Vehicle, 10:35 p.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Deputies contacted individuals parked at Kimmel Park. Nothing suspicious and moved along.

March 10

Suspicious Person, 5:36 a.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Males at Dollar General. Store wants males trespassed.

Animal Complaint, 9:08 a.m., 13th Street, Lyons. Report of what sounded to be a dog in distress. Unable to locate.

Traffic Hazard, 11 a.m., Richardson Gap Road/Fish Hatchery Drive, Scio. Road Dept. put stop sign back up.

Suspicious Vehicle, 3:02 p.m., Cedar Mill Road, Lyons. Deputy located a suspicious vehicle. Noncriminal.

Mental Health, 3:25 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Deputies assisted elderly female back home.

Traffic Stop, 4:36 p.m., N First Avenue/NE Wall Street, Mill City. Driver warned for expired tags.

Traffic Stop, 4:42 p.m., NE Santiam Blvd./NE Seventh Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for expired tags.

Assist Other Agency, 6:27 p.m., Brown Drive/Gilkey Road, Scio. Deputies assisted OSP on possible drunk driver.

Extra Patrol, 9:34 p.m., SW Evergreen Street, Mill City. Extra patrols around businesses and schools.

Park Patrol, 9:48 p.m., SE Sixth Avenue, Mill City. Kimmel Park. No suspicious activity.
