Linn County Sheriff’s Office Log: May 30 – June 4

May 30

Parking Complaint, 11:54 a.m., Lulay Road, Scio. Deputy responded to a report of vehicles parked on a county road inhibiting log truck traffic. Deputy contacted the vehicle owner who moved vehicles.

Traffic Stop, 1:30 p.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Driver cited for driving while suspended and with no insurance.

Warrant, 1:58 p.m., 25th Street, Lyons. Male, 54, of Lyons was issued a citation in lieu of custody for an outstanding warrant.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle, 3:17 p.m., Substation and Kingston-Lyons drives, Stayton. Male, 37, of Mill City was arrested and booked at Linn County Jail on charges for unlawful use of a vehicle and possession of a stolen vehicle. He was cited on driving while suspended – violation and display altered or illegal plates.

Traffic Stop, 5:13 p.m., Highway 226, Scio. Driver cited for failure to register vehicle since 2005.

Suspicious Circumstances, 6:37 p.m., Rainbow Drive, Scio. After receiving a suspicious text message, caller asked for assistance for a friend. Caller did not know the friend’s location. Deputy attempted to locate the friend. Caller called back and informed the deputy their friend was located and did not need help.

Sex Offense, 7:56 p.m., Idanha. Deputies took a report of a juvenile who inappropriately touched another juvenile at school. DHS was notified.

Suspicious Person, 11:10 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Deputies checked on a person on the side of the road. Individual was suffering from some sort of mental health issues.

May 31

Prowler, 1:41 a.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Deputies were unable to locate.

Suspicious Person, 2:35 a.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive/Cedar Mill Road, Lyons. Male sitting in a ditch. Deputy contacted male who was suffering from mental health issues. Male refused a ride.

Traffic Stop, 11:19 a.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Driver warned for expired tags.

Trespass, 12:51 p.m., Stayton-Scio Road, Scio. Female, 30, of Stayton was arrested for Criminal Trespass I, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Unlawful Entry into a Motor Vehicle and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle.

Abandoned Vehicle, 4:20 p.m., Hungry Hill and Crabtree drives, Scio. Deputies unable to locate vehicle.

Littering Violation, 5:22 p.m., Thomas Creek Drive, Scio. Deputy located a badly damaged truck canopy thrown on the side of the road. Canopy appeared to have been there for some time.

Suspicious Circumstances, 6:42 p.m., SW Tuers Lane, Mill City. Deputy contacted two people driving off road on ODF Tom Rock 500 in violation of State Forest regulations. Subjects were educated on regulations and were warned that future violations would result in citations.

Noise Disturbance, 10:14 p.m., 13th Street, Lyons. Deputy responded. All was quiet upon arrival.

June 1

Suspicious Person, 2:40 a.m., N Main Street, Scio. Caller reported an intoxicated male walking around making noise. Deputy was unable to locate.

Suspicious Person, 3:52 a.m., NW Beech Street, Scio. Intoxicated male located in alleyway. Deputies responded and transported male to the hospital for evaluation.

Traffic Stop, 9:25 a.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Driver warned for improper display.

Suspicious Circumstances, 7:29 p.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Deputy assisted a citizen with concerns regarding a recent vehicle they purchased.

June 2

Trespass, 8:36 a.m., Thomas Drive, Scio. Caller requested a family member be trespassed from some property.

Traffic Stop, 10:18 a.m., Fifth and Cedar streets, Lyons. Driver cited on a traffic violation for failure to maintain lane.

Dog Complaint, 1:07 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Dog owner verbally warned for dog violations.

Trespass, 2:37 p.m., Rodgers Mountain Loop, Scio. Neighborhood dispute over property lines and spraying weeds/grass.

Traffic Stop, 3:39 p.m., N First Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for failure to yield to pedestrians at crosswalk.

Traffic Stop, 4 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Driver warned for failure to obey traffic control device.

Traffic Stop, 4:03 p.m., SW Broadway Street, Mill City. Driver warned for failure to obey traffic control device.

Noise Disturbance, 11:05 p.m., SE Kingwood and SE Third avenues, Mill City. Deputies located a residence where it appeared a party may have been going on earlier in the night but all was quiet.

June 3

Suspicious Person, 9:38 a.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Deputies attempted contact with male with warrants who was uncooperative.

Suspicious Person, 9:49 a.m., Main Street, Lyons. Deputies contacted a suspicious male.

Fraud, 10:41 a.m., Stoller Road, Scio. Deputies spoke with a male regarding fraudulent charges on a credit card.

Fraud, 6:34 p.m., Third Street, Scio. Caller reports she was contacted by scammers via a link on the computer. Caller said the scammers used scare tactics and spent several hours attempting to steal money. Caller did not fall for the scam; scammers did not get any of the caller’s money.

Illegal Camping, 7:30 p.m., Hess Road, Scio. Owner of the vehicle was asked to remove the vehicle from the road.

Traffic Stop, 7:44 p.m., Rodgers Mountain Loop/Richardson Gap Road, Scio. Driver cited for 82 MPH in 55 MPH zone.

Shots Heard, 10:31 p.m., Blowout Road, Idanha. Deputies were unable to locate the source of the gunshots.

June 4

Traffic Stop, 5:04 a.m., Highway 226/Richardson Gap Road, Scio. Driver warned for speed.

Traffic Stop, 8:30 a.m., Highway 226, Scio. Deputies conducted a follow-up on hit and run case.

Suspicious Vehicle, 2:30 p.m., Main Street, Lyons. Male, 39, of Salem was arrested and booked at Linn County Jail on driving while suspended – felony charge.

Shots Heard, 3:29 p.m., Greenway Drive, Gates. Deputy answered questions regarding a neighbor shooting in their rural area. Information only.

Dog Complaint, 3:46 p.m., Richardson Gap Road, Scio. Deputy responded to a report of two dogs running loose in the area but was unable to locate the dogs.

Theft, 5:12 p.m., Richardson Gap Road/Highway 226, Scio. Trailer found by owner. Trailer had items with a sum of $870 taken from it. Ongoing investigation.

Warrant, 8:34 p.m., Main Street, Lyons. Male, 55, of Lyons was cited and released on a Linn County Circuit Court warrant.

Traffic Stop, 10:35 p.m., NE Wall Street/N First Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for moving violation.
