Santa Claus is coming to town

Christmas activities abound this Saturday, Dec. 3 in the Canyon.
The Detroit/Idanha community celebration is at 4 p.m. at the Detroit Lake Community and Civil Center.
The festivities include visits with Santa, sips and nibbles, games, crafts and presents followed by the lighting of the Christmas tree.
Free chili dogs will be provided by the Detroit Lake and Ford Family foundations.

Other local activities include:

The Scio Christmas parade leaves the Scio Fire Station at 5:30 p.m., and arrives at Scio Christian Church for caroling at 6 p.m. and tree lighting at 6:30 p.m.
First annual Lyons Christmas tree lighting event is 6 – 8 p.m. at the Lyons Fire Department.
Enjoy “My Favorite Christmas,” a Sheepskin Revue at 7 p.m. at the Scio ZCBJ Hall.
Meet Santa and his elves at 7 p.m. at the Scio Fire District Station 92, 37587 Crabtree Drive.

Santiam Valley Grange’s Christmas Craft Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 10.
Photos with Santa, a fundraiser for Santiam Young life from noon to 5 p.m. Dec. 10 at Santiam Elementary.
KYAC Concert Series continued with Fern Hill at 7 p.m. Dec. 10 at Stewart’s Hall in Mill City. $25 per person. Tickets available at the door or through kyacfm.org.
Santiam Canyon Community Chorus presents “Together for the Holidays at 4 p.m. Dec. 11 at Stewart’s Hall.  Shepherd’s pie dinner follows the show.
