Letter to the Editor: Thank you for lawsuit coverage

Gay Stuntzner

Thank you for your SUPERB coverage of the various PacificCorp lawsuits. Without your comprehensive reporting of the many lawsuits for damages suffered as a result of the Labor Day 2020 fire, residents of the Santiam Canyon would be unaware of the ongoing and important litigation against the power company. You are to be highly commended. Thank you! (As an aside, I wonder whether there could be any connection between our electricity bill being raised by about 50 percent in recent months and the lawsuits. Hmm…)

I recently read that since 2005 one-third of the newspapers have ceased publication and two-thirds of the journalists are gone. The Canyon Weekly is a shining example of a thriving regional newspaper. KUDOS!

Please keep up the great work that you do in keeping us well informed of the region’s news: people, school, events, sports, advertising, public notices, and last but not least the Linn County Sheriff’s log.
