Traci Archer, who has served as city recorder of Gates nine years, has received a statewide honor from the Oregon Association of Water Utilities.
Archer was named office manager of the year for 2020 by the OAWU at its 44th management and technical conference Feb. 28 to March 4 at Sunriver in Central Oregon.
The annual award, according to the OAWU, aims to acknowledge and honor an individual “who regularly goes above the call of duty … through their work ethic, integrity, leadership and the (public) servant attitude that they regularly demonstrate at their place of work.”
OAWU’s statement on the award noted Acher’s “professionalism, performance, attitude and care of the city of Gates. She takes pride in her work, is extremely conscientious, does not take shortcuts, is willing to learn and shares the things she has learned with others.”
The Oregon Association of Water Utilities is a nonprofit, independent association of water and wastewater utilities. OAWU was formed in 1977 to represent water utilities’ interests in the state Legislature and provide onsite technical assistance. OAWU is the Oregon affiliate of the National Rural Water Association, which is one of America’s largest and strongest voices for rural and small systems such as that found in Gates.
Until Tree Fredrickson was added as city clerk, Archer was the lone city employee in Gates.
