In Memoriam: Edwin Coleman (May 8, 1941 – Feb. 2, 2024)

Edwin (Ebby) Lee Coleman, 82, died Feb. 2024 in Salem. He was born May 8, 1941 in Marlow, Oklahoma, to Vernon and Hazel Coleman.

Edwin received an associate’s degree as well as served in Germany for the U.S. Army. He was employed in construction as a highly talented heavy equipment/backhoe operator for many years. 

Edwin was a member of the Eagles Club. His hobbies included his love for painting on wood and canvas, fixing anything, raising Black Angus cattle, hunting and fishing. He was a pool shark and loved to play poker with his family and friends. He adored his mother, Hazel, more than anything in the world. He would tell many funny stories to make people laugh and enjoy the time he had with them. 

Edwin is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Hazel (Todd) Coleman; daughter, Deana Marie Coleman; brother, Bill Coleman; and sister-in-law, Sandra (Ken) Coleman. 

Edwin is survived by his children, Sonja Silbernagel and Michelle (Greg) Morlan; brothers, Ken Coleman, Bob Coleman, Ron (Carol) Coleman, Mike (Yvonne) Coleman; sister, Darla (Dale) Kirsch; grandchildren: Joshua Morlan, Stormie (Ryan) Bambrick, Hunter Silbernagel, Stetson Silbernagel; great grandchild, Rukzen Bambrick; and many nieces and nephews. 

Graveside services will be held at noon Saturday, March 23, 2024, at at Lone Oak Cemetery in Stayton. Reception will follow at the Stayton Moose Lodge at 352 E. Florence St., Stayton.
