Trial set for Salem hair salon robbery

Reporter for The Canyon Weekly

A Mill City woman accused of an armed robbery at a Salem hair salon in 2022 is headed to trial as her attorney continues to challenge the legitimacy of the state’s evidence.

On Nov. 15, parties in the case against Sarah Martha Moore, 39, agreed to a two-day trial starting Dec. 11 in Marion County Circuit Court before Judge Courtland Geyer.

Moore is charged with two counts of second-degree robbery and if convicted faces at least 70 months in prison. As of press time she remained in the Marion County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Moore and Andre Dreams, 42, of Salem, are accused of entering Salon Services Pro on March 18, 2022, and stealing $635 in hair extensions at gunpoint.

Dreams has not been publicly charged with the robbery and is wanted in Marion County for allegedly selling fentanyl in January.

Public defender Jacob Reynolds has challenged a police search of an apartment Moore and Dreams shared at the time in Salem. He filed a motion to suppress evidence Oct. 26 claiming police searched the apartment without a warrant and entered without consent from the tenants or the property owner.

Prosecutors argued police obtained permission to enter the apartment building from another tenant and obtained a warrant before collecting any evidence.

Reynolds filed a new motion Nov. 13 asking that the victim in the case, the cashier of the salon, be prevented from testifying about the suspects’ identities. Prosecutors claim Moore and Dreams committed the robbery with their faces concealed and Reynolds noted the cashier was unable to provide police with a positive identification of the robbers.
