Nominations open for community awards

The North Santiam Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for its annual Santiam Canyon Community Awards.

Here are the five categories and the criteria: 

Nonprofit of the year: Do you know a nonprofit organization that has affected your life? They are looking for local outstanding community servers who are focused on helping.

• Young adult citizen: Help recognize a person between 18 and 35 who has substantially added to the community by helping with creating new ideas and participating with local efforts.

• Business of the year: Nominate your favorite business that has shown a history of excellent products and community involvement.  

• Citizen of the year: Nominate the friend or neighbor who you’ve noticed making a difference around town. Anyone can win this one. Do they demonstrate community service?

• Canyon beautification and improvement award: Designed to thank one of the local business or property owners for their dedication to creating a more beautiful Santiam Canyon.

Nominations must be received by April 7. No U.S. Postal Service nominations will be accepted. Be sure to include category, nominee name and contact information, reason for nomination and your contact information.

The awards will be presented at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26 at Santiam High School in Mill City.
