Linn County Sheriff’s Office Log: Jan. 4 – 11

Jan. 4

Parking Complaint, 11:32 a.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Caller reported a parking violation at Mill City 7-Eleven.

Suspicious Circumstance, 6:43 p.m., SE Cedar Avenue, Idanha. Subject was not located.

Jan. 5

Found Property, 12:09 a.m., SW Sixth Avenue, Scio. Found wallet. Wallet is lodged at Linn County Sheriff’s Office for safekeeping.

Domestic Disturbance, 2:40 a.m., Hungry Hill Drive, Scio. Fight between father and adult son. Incident is under investigation.

Suspicious Vehicle, 6:09 a.m., Main Street/Apple Loop, Lyons. All was well.

Abandoned Vehicle, 9:01 a.m., NW First Avenue, Scio. Scio School District reported an abandoned vehicle.

Threats, 9:28 a.m., NW First Avenue, Scio. Report of harassment involving two juveniles.

Traffic Hazard, 11:18 a.m., SW Ivy Street, Mill City. Parking complaint. Situation was resolved.

Suspicious Person, 8:17 p.m., Fish Hatchery Drive, Scio. Adult male walking on the side of the roadway. Male declined a ride.

Suspicious Circumstance, 8:56 p.m., Lulay Road, Scio. Caller believed to see flashlights near a house that was supposed to be vacant for the night. Deputies found all doors and windows to the residence to be secured.

Suspicious Circumstance, 10:45 p.m., SE Fourth Avenue, Mill City. Caller was concerned about an unknown device connecting to their phone. Caller wanted information documented.

Jan. 6

Extra Patrol, 8:22 a.m., Rock Creek Road, Gates.

Traffic Stop, 9:07 a.m., SE Kingwood and S First avenues, Mill City. Driver warned for speed.

Fraud, 10:10 a.m., Meyer Street, Scio. Caller reported fraud involving a fake phone number and entry to her bank account.

Citizen Contact, 11:41 a.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Mill City. All was well.

Traffic Stop, 2:15 p.m., Crabtree Drive/Highway 226, Scio. Driver warned for expired tags and following to close.

Traffic Stop, 3:04 p.m., NW Beech Street/NW Third Avenue, Scio. Driver cited for driving while suspended and driving uninsured.

Welfare Check, 3:13 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. All was well.

Traffic Complaint, 8:46 p.m., Gates Bridge East, Gates. Deputies warned the driver for future behaviors.

Jan. 7

Traffic Hazard, 7:35 a.m., Shimanek Bridge Drive, Scio. Large tree down across the road. Damaged power lines.

Suspicious Vehicle, 8:08 a.m., Richardson Gap Road/Highway 226, Scio. Deputy checked area but was unable to locate vehicle.

Dog Complaint, 9:10 a.m., Slangal Drive, Scio. Dog owner issued written warning for dog at large and failure to license dog.

Traffic Stop, 11:24 a.m., N First Avenue/NE Wall Street, Mill City. Driver cited for driving uninsured and warned for operating a motor vehicle while using a mobile electronic device.

Criminal Mischief, 1:54 p.m., W Scio Road, Scio. Caller reported sometime the previous week a chain link fence was cut. Estimated damage $200. Deputy responded and documented information. Extra patrol requested.

Suspicious Circumstance, 2:43 p.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Deputy responded and all was well.

Accident, 4:19 p.m., Richardson Gap Road/Fish Hatchery Drive, Scio. Driver cited for failure to obey traffic control device and careless driving after causing a two-vehicle crash.

Suspicious Circumstance, 5:11 p.m., SE Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Subject in question has been reported several times in the past. While his behavior is off-putting, it is not illegal. Juvenile caller was advised not to talk to strangers.

Suspicious Person, 6:07 p.m., Cedar Mill Road, Lyons. Subject left property when told to do so.

Jan. 8

Accident, 12:49 a.m., Highway 226, Scio. Vehicle hit a deer. More than $2,500 in damage.

Noise Disturbance, 1:32 a.m., SE Fourth Avenue, Mill City. No loud music observed in the area.

Security Check, 4 a.m., N Main Street, Scio. Deputy conducted security check at Scio High. School was secure and no one was located on the property.

Traffic Hazard, 7:13 a.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive/Neighbors Lane, Lyons. Hazard was removed before deputy arrived.

Animal Complaint, 8:58 a.m., Robinson Drive, Scio. Deputy responded to report of dog at large.

Warrant, 2:47 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Mill City. Male, 32, of Mill City arrested on an outstanding warrant during a traffic stop. He was issued a summons and released. He was cited for driving while suspended, driving uninsured and expired registration.

Traffic Complaint, 4:28 p.m., Cole School Road, Scio. Caller reported a driver was driving slow, then fast before pulling into a private residence. Caller advised vehicle almost crashed into someone as well.

Suspicious Person, 9:24 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Subject left the business when told to do so.

Neighborhood Dispute, 10:56 p.m., Shelburn Drive, Scio. Neighbor had a work light on, working on a vehicle. Caller was advised this was not a law enforcement matter.

Jan. 9

Trespass, 10:10 a.m., Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Caller reported a male trespassed at Mill City Wash and Dry. Deputy responded and male left the property.

Traffic Hazard, 10:11 a.m., Jefferson-Scio and Shelburn drives, Scio. Deputy responded to call of cows out on the road in thick fog. Cows were returned to their barn upon deputy’s arrival.

Domestic Disturbance, 1:03 p.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Caller reported domestic disturbance. Deputy responded and parties separated. Verbal dispute only.

Arrest, 1:22 p.m., Xmas Tree Road, Gates. Male, 62, of Mill City arrested on failure to appear warrant. He was issued a criminal citation in lieu of custody.

Welfare Check, 2:43 p.m., Crabtree Drive, Scio. All was well.

Suspicious Person, 4:16 p.m., SW Douglas Street, Mill City. Individual left prior to deputy’s arrival.

Disorderly Conduct, 5:47 p.m., NE Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Male, 46, of Salem arrested for disorderly conduct II, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental or judicial administration. He was transported to Marion County Jail, where the jail refused to lodge him. He was issued criminal citations and released from custody.

Accident, 8:06 p.m., Richardson Gap Road/Highway 226, Scio. Driver drove into a ditch and pulled out. Possible damage to SMTA Coop box.

Traffic Stop, 10:27 p.m., Highway 226/SW Sixth Avenue, Scio. Driver warned for equipment violation – headlight.

Jan. 10

Theft, 12:20 p.m., Highway 226, Scio. Caller reported a CAT was stolen off his truck causing roughly $2,500 in damage. Ongoing investigation.

Suspicious Circumstance, 12:41 p.m., Kingston-Lyons Drive, Stayton. Caller reported a broken window. Deputy determined the window was broken by a stray bullet.

Suspicious Circumstance, 4:50 p.m., SE Cedar Avenue, Idanha. Caller reported receiving suspicious text messages. Caller did not cooperate with deputies to make a report.

Trespass, 4:52 p.m., SW Spring Street, Mill City. Caller reported trespassers on a vacant lot. Males were fixing a tire on a disabled vehicle in front of the residence.

Theft, 5:34 p.m., Hungry Hill Drive, Scio. Metal sign saying “Parker Farms” was stolen. Value to replace is $400.

Extra Patrol, 10:47 p.m., SE Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Traffic enforcement. No citations or warnings issued.

Jan. 11

Extra Patrol, 1:40 a.m., SW Evergreen Street, Mill City. All seemed quiet.
