Congratulations to the Class of 2023

Santiam Junior/Senior High School says good-bye this June to the largest class of seniors ever to graduate.

“We have 50 scholars who will be walking across the stage on June 9 allowing their families, friends and supporters the honor of celebrating their academic achievement,” said Angela Rasmussen, principal of the Mill City school. “This year’s graduating class is made up of future writers, builders, engineers, photographers, medical professions, world travelers and many, many other amazing pathways.”

The ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. on June 9 in the SJSHS gymnasium.

The valedictorians are Ashton Saari, Emma Longfellow, Fisher Cook, Logan Hays, Parker Hanna and Reis Peterson.

Abigail Allen takes the honor of being named salutatorian.

“Our 2023 graduates are young adults who are all well-rounded, dedicated and accepting,” Rasmussen said. “It has truly been an honor to have had the opportunity to educate Santiam’s Class of 2023.”

Scio High School graduates 48 seniors who will receive their diplomas at 7 p.m. June 9 at Newcomb Stadium.

Valedictorian for the Class of 2023 is Vivyetta Hirschfelder. Salutatorian is Clancey Krahn.

“I’d like to extend my warmest appreciation and admiration to the outstanding 2023 class,” said Kyle Braa, SHS principal. “This remarkable group of individuals has truly exemplified what it means to be involved and passionate about their high  school experience. Throughout their journey, these seniors have consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to making the most of every opportunity and creating a positive impact on their school community.”

Braa has no doubt that the graduates will continue to “rise above any obstacles, pursue their passions, and achieve remarkable success in their chosen paths.”
