March 22

Extra Patrol, 8:59 a.m., Mill City. Focused traffic patrols.

Extra Patrol, 9:51 a.m., Kingwood Avenue, Gates. Focused traffic patrols.

Vehicle Theft, 11:14 a.m., Ninth Street, Lyons. Deputies investigate unauthorized use of motor vehicle.

Fraud, 11:48 a.m., Stayton-Scio Loop, Scio. Deputies made multiple attempts by phone and in person to contact a female reporting possible theft or fraud.

Harassment, 1:45 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Mill City. Ongoing dispute between neighbors.

Traffic Complaint, 2:06 p.m., SW Broadway Street, Mill City. Extra patrol request for speeding white car.

Trespass, 6:24 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Mill City. Neighbor repeatedly trespasses to divert water to his property, causing caller’s well to run dry and $1,500 in repair costs. Deputies were unable to get in contact with the neighbor.

March 23

Traffic Stop, 8:33 a.m., Main Street, Lyons. Driver warned for speeding.

Found Animal, 8:49 a.m., Highway 226, Scio. Report of a stray sheep on the caller’s property. Deputy contacted male who had been removing sheep from a nearby field. Male responded to see if it was his.

Assist Other Agency, 11:38 a.m., Rock Creek Road, Gates. Deputies assisted Lyons Fire on a medical patient. Patient was transported.

Forest Timber Patrol, 11:50 a.m., Thomas Creek Drive, Scio. Patrolled Weyerhaeuser, Avery, BLM and ODF property. Nothing to report.

Animal Complaint, 1:12 p.m., SW Gingko Street, Scio. Report of animal neglect. Deputy saw all animals and the complaint was unfounded.

Theft, 1:47 p.m., Rodgers Mountain Loop, Scio. Report of theft of Smith & Wesson Body Guard, .380cal, trace grip laser in black cloth holster with two snaps straps, one full magazine and one round in chamber. Value $375. Last seen around March 7. Ongoing investigation.

Traffic Stop, 2 p.m., SW Broadway Street, Mill City. Driver warned for no seat belt.

Forest Timber Patrol, 2:58 p.m., Green Mountain Road, Gates. Patrolled ODF and BLM property. Nothing to report.

Park Patrol, 4:33 p.m., Fish Hatchery Drive, Scio. Patrolled Roaring River Park. No visitors. Nothing to report.

Suspicious Circumstance, 9:58 p.m., Main Street, Lyons. Report of possible gunshot. Deputies were unable to locate source.

March 24

Traffic Stop, 9:37 a.m., SE Kingwood and S First avenues, Mill City. Driver warned for speeding.

Traffic Stop, 10:46 a.m., S First Avenue/SE Ivy Street, Mill City. Male, 57, of Mill City cited in lieu of custody on two outstanding warrants and cited for failure to use seat belt and driving while suspended.

Suspicious Vehicle, 3:36 p.m., Richardson Gap Road, Scio. Report of suspicious vehicle on caller’s property two days prior.

Traffic Stop, 10:08 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive/Cedar Mill Road, Lyons. Driver warned for equipment violation.

Traffic Stop, 10:25 p.m., Richardson Gap Road, Scio. Driver cited for 75 MPH in 55 MPH zone and expired tags.

Traffic Stop, 10:44 p.m., Richardson Gap Road, Scio. Driver warned for speeding.

Traffic Stop 10:51 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Driver warned for equipment violation.

March 25

Traffic Stop, 12:46 a.m., SE Fourth Avenue/SE Ivy Street, Mill City. Male, 61, of Mill City was cited in lieu of custody for a warrant and cited for driving while suspended.

Traffic Stop, 1:45 a.m., SE Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Driver cited for driving while suspended.

Traffic Stop, 2:11 a.m., Kingwood and SW 11th avenues, Mill City. Driver warned for moving violation.

Traffic Hazard, 8:57 a.m., Stayton-Scio Road/Sandner Drive, Scio. Deputies responded to call of a cow in the road. Cow was no longer on the road and not a traffic hazard.

Suspicious Circumstance, 9:07 a.m., Camp Morrison Drive/Lulay Road, Scio. Deputy located a camp behind a locked gate. Campers denied locking the gate that was locked from the inside. Campers complained about the high amount of traffic and shooting in the pit. Campers were warned and the lock was cut off.

Fatal Accident, 10:06 a.m., Stayton-Scio Road/Cole School Road. Deputies conducted investigation into fatal traffic collision.

Forest Timber Patrol, 1:34 p.m., Thomas Creek Drive, Scio. Patrolled Weyerhaeuser and Avery timber from to Camp Morrison Road.

Civil Dispute, 3:30 p.m., Fishermans Road, Lyons. Civil issue regarding a shared vehicle. Deputy responded and provided information.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle, 6:38 p.m., Shoreline Drive, Lyons. Stolen Acura from Salem recovered. Evidence collected. Owner recovered vehicle.

Theft, 7:50 p.m., S McCully Mountain Road, Lyons. Extra patrol requested. Victim to make report.

Security Check, 9:10 p.m., Gilkey Road, Scio. Deputies conducted a security check of a church.

Extra Patrol, 9:54 p.m., Fox Valley Road, Lyons. Deputy checked vacant property for trespassers. 

Traffic Stop, 9:59 p.m., SW Second Avenue/SW Beech Street, Scio. Drive warned for expired registration.

March 26

Civil Dispute, 3:03 a.m., Fishermans Road, Lyons. Caller reported an ongoing civil problem between him and a person he co-owns a vehicle with.

Found Property, 8:53 a.m., Shimanek Bridge Drive/Richardson Gap Road, Scio. Deputies took possession of found property and stored it at LCSO Evidence.

Fraud, 10:32 a.m., Stayton-Scio Loop, Scio. Deputies investigated online fraud.

Suspicious Vehicle, 5:08 p.m., Highway 226/Richardson Gap Road, Scio. Vehicle broke down and help was on the way.

Disturbance, 9:36 p.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Adults got in a wrestling match when a few adults were preventing two others from driving drunk. No one wished to pursue criminal charges. The couple was driven away by a sober driver.

Warrant, 10:54 p.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Male of Mill City issued a citation in lieu of custody on an outstanding warrant.

Mental Health, 11:34 p.m., NW Beech Street, Scio. Adult male was experiencing a mental health crisis and was taken to the hospital on a peace officer hold.

March 27

Trespass, 7:01 a.m., Hess Road/Shelburn Drive, Scio. Two subjects warned for trespassing.

Civil Dispute, 10:50 a.m., Providence Drive, Scio. Civil dispute over shared property between brothers. No action taken.

Forest Timber Patrol, 2:29 p.m., Pyramid Ridge Road, Idanha. Patrolled Cascade Timber property. Two contacts with subjects at Johnny Lake. Got turned around by snow at MP 2.

Assist Other Agency, 2:35 p.m., Shelburn Drive, Scio. Deputies attempted contact on a suspect for Marion County. Unable to locate.

Suspicious Circumstance, 2:55 p.m., NE Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Misunderstanding.

Shots Heard, 3:18 p.m., Hungry Hill Drive, Scio. Individual shooting on private property in a safe manner.

Theft, 7 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Mill City. Victim refused to pay tow bills from his recovered stolen vehicle. Tow company likely auctioned off his vehicle after 30 days of nonpayment.

Disturbance, 7:32 p.m., Providence Drive, Scio. Citizen reported seeing an adult pull a vehicle over, remove his son and spank him. Deputy located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Deputy learned the child was being very disrespectful. Incident was punishment for the child acting out. Non-criminal.

March 28

Trespass, 5:53 p.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Clean blankets were left at the entrance to the church. Unable to find owner.

Extra Patrol, 8:27 p.m., Clipfell Lane, Lyons.

Suspicious Circumstance, 9:16 p.m., Rodgers Mountain Loop, Scio. Unidentified noise heard by caller. Deputies checked the area and found nothing unusual.
