Detroit Mayor Jim Trett is poised to become head of the Oregon Mayors Association.
Trett, who has served as mayor of Detroit since 2017, was named president-elect at the association’s annual conference Oct. 17-19 in Bend. President-elect means that Trett will be president of the group in the 2026 calendar year. Henry Balensifer of Warrenton will serve as the OMA’s president in 2025.
The purpose of the OMA is to increase the skills of Oregon mayors and make a strong, collective effort to influence state programs and legislation.
