Halloween fun just around the corner

This Halloween families and children have an exciting and safe way to celebrate.

Mill City Christian Church, in partnership with Santiam Outreach Community Center, is hosting Trunk or Treat 2024.

“Trunk or Treat is a simple way for us to gather as neighbors,” Mill City Christian Church Pastor Paul Luna explained. “We welcome everyone in the community to come together for an evening of games, candy, and warm smiles. We can’t wait to meet you.”

The event, on the corner of SW Kingwood and SW Fouth avenues in Mill City, features decorated car trunks from local families, businesses and organizations. Children can stroll through the area in costumes, collecting treats from creatively decorated vehicles.

This year there’s more than just candy.

Candy and Games: In addition to candy, enjoy a variety of games that promote teamwork and fun for all ages.

Food and Drink: From kettlecorn to hot coffee and cocoa, there will be something warm and delicious for everyone.

Santa Boo-tiful Workshop: Santa Claus will be there in his “Santa Boo-tiful Workshop,” spreading holiday cheer a little early. He has gifts for all little kids up to fifth grade.

Community Engagement: The event provides a chance to connect with our neighbors, foster friendships, and build a stronger community.

Safe Environment: Trunk or Treat offers a monitored space where kids can safely enjoy the Halloween festivities with their families.

Creative Decorations: Each vehicle will be decorated with family-friendly themes like Narnia, Noah’s Ark, and camping scenes, offering not just treats but also engaging stories.

The event also serves as an opportunity for local involvement. A candy collection bin is available at the church entrance for those willing to donate individually wrapped candy.

“Your generosity helps make this a memorable experience for the entire community,” Luna said.

The event runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Halloween night, Thursday, Oct. 31.
