Linn County Sheriff’s Office Log: Jan. 2 – 7

Jan. 2

Animal Complaint, 8:26 a.m., Shelburn Drive, Scio. Deputies checked on a property after a concerned citizen reported there was possibly a puppy mill at the property. Deputies agreed there was not adequate care for the dogs on the property and made arrangements to ensure issues would be resolved.

Extra Patrol, 8:31 a.m., Fifth Street, Lyons. Mari-Linn School.

Animal Complaint, 10:51 a.m., NE Alder Street, Mill City. Deputy spoke with neighbors about barking dog issues. Nothing criminal.

Extra Patrol, 12:13 p.m., SW Cedar Street, Mill City. Santiam High.

Extra Patrol, 12:43 p.m., SW Evergreen Street, Mill City. Santiam Elementary.

Traffic Stop, 2:48 p.m., Main and 24th streets, Lyons. Driver warned for failure to renew registration.

Disturbance, 4:50 p.m., SE Hazel Street, Mill City. Homeowner attempted to photograph house prior to the tenant’s removal. Homeowner was advised this was not acceptable and was informed to complete the eviction process.

Shots Heard, 5:15 p.m., E Bilyeu Creek and Camp Morrison drives, Scio. Deputy spoke with resident who has ongoing concerns about shooting at the BLM rock pit on milepost 2 of Upper Neal Creak. Information only at this time.

Trespass, 6:53 p.m., SE Hazel Street, Mill City. Continuation of previous call. Homeowner parked in tenants driveway and drove off when the tenant started recording. Noncriminal.

Suspicious Vehicle, 11:57 p.m., NE First Avenue, Scio. Deputy responded to a reported suspicious vehicle but was unable to locate it. 

Jan. 3

Accident, 7:07 a.m., River Drive/Stayton-Scio Road, Stayton. Deputies investigated three-car motor vehicle collision caused by a deer with minor damage and no injuries,

Extra Patrol, 9:26 a.m., SE Sixth Avenue, Mill City. Extra patrol at local park. Nothing suspicious.

Traffic Stop, 9:43 a.m., N First Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for failure to control traffic control device.

Traffic Stop, 9:58 a.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for improper display of temp tag.

Lockout Civil Process, 10:15 a.m., SE Hazel Street, Mill City.

Traffic Stop, 10:16 a.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for failure to obey traffic control device.

Forest Timber Patrol, 12:34 p.m., Monument Peak and Xmas Tree roads, Gates.

Security Check, 1:16 p.m., SE Fourth Avenue, Mill City. Deputies conducted security check on residence. Nothing appeared suspicious.

Traffic Stop, 2:41 p.m., SE Fourth and SE Kingwood avenues, Mill City. Driver warned for failure to register vehicle. 

Traffic Stop, 2:47 p.m., SE Fourth and SE Kingwood avenues, Mill City. Driver cited for driving without privileges and failure to register vehicle.

Traffic Stop, 3:49 p.m., SE Fifth and SE Kingwood avenues, Mill City. Driver warned for moving violation.

Accident, 4:04 p.m., Highway 226, Scio. Deputies assisted OSP with non-injury crash.

Theft, 5:51 p.m., Highway 226, Scio.

Suspicious Vehicle, 7:46 p.m., Gates School Road/E Gates Bridge, Gates. Deputy checked on suspicious vehicle. Vehicle was unoccupied and deputies were not able to locate anyone in the area.

Extra Patrol, 7:52 p.m., E Gates Bridge, Gates. Nothing suspicious.

Disturbance, 8:11 p.m., Gilkey Road, Scio. Misunderstanding between family leads to screaming and yelling. Deputy mediated and everyone separated for the night.

Jan. 4

Extra Patrol, 8:15 a.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Extra patrol at Mill City schools during beginning of school hours.

Traffic Stop, 9:38 a.m., NE Wall Street/N First Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for failure to obey traffic control device.

Traffic Stop, 9:42 a.m., SW Douglas Street/SW Fourth Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for expired registration.

Welfare Check, 10:11 a.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Deputies conduct a welfare check on male going through mental health issues.

Traffic Hazard, 11:23 a.m., Stayton-Scio Road/Shelburn Drive, Scio. Deputies responded to traffic hazard and helped clear road of rocks.

Traffic Stop, 3:06 p.m., NE Second Avenue/NW Alder Street, Mill City. Driver cited for driving uninsured.

Accident, 4:59 p.m., Kingston-Jordan Drive, Stayton. Juvenile driver slid off the road after failing to negotiate a corner in rainy conditions. Non-injury.

Extra Patrol, 8:32 p.m., Hungry Hill Drive, Scio. Nothing suspicious observed.

Elude, 10:10 p.m., SE Ivy Street/S First Avenue, Mill City. Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle for expired tags. Vehicle proceeded to elude deputies for a few blocks before coming to a stop and the operator fleeing on foot. Deputies were unable to locate operator. Ongoing investigation.

Security Check, 11:31 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Everything was secure.

Jan. 5

Assist Other Agency, 1:09 a.m., NW Alder Street, Mill City. Deputies assisted medics on a medical call.

Forest Timber Patrol, 7:30 a.m., Camp Morrison Drive, Scio. 

Dog Complaint, 9:29 a.m., Main Street, Lyons. Deputy attempted contact with citizen regarding dog complaint.

Traffic Stop, 2:22 P.M., S First and SE Kingwood avenues, Mill City. Driver cited for driving while suspended.

Forest Timber Patrol, 4:58 p.m., Camp Morrison Drive, Scio.

Assist Other Agency, 5:02 p.m., Crabtree Drive, Scio. Deputies assisted Scio Fire Department.

Suspicious Circumstances, 5:39 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Deputy spoke to caller about concern regarding grandson and asked for extra patrols.

Criminal Mischief, 8:13 p.m., S First Avenue, Mill City.

Jan. 6

Traffic Stop, 10:07 a.m., SE Hazel Street, Mill City. Driver warned for failure to renew registration.

Suspicious Person, 11:08 a.m., SW Alder Street, Scio. Deputies were unable to locate.

Accident, 11:31 a.m., N Main Street/NE First Avenue, Scio. Two-vehicle, non-injury crash. One driver cited for driving while suspended misdemeanor and driving uninsured. Other driver was cited for a dangerous left turn.

Traffic Stop, 2:36 p.m., N Main Street, Scio. Driver warned for speed.

Traffic Stop, 3:39 p.m., NW First Avenue, Scio. Driver cited for operating without driving privileges and failure to carry proof of insurance.

Traffic Stop, 4:35 p.m., N Main Street, Scio. Driver warned for improper lighting to the rear.

Traffic Stop, 4:42 p.m., N Main Street, Scio. Driver warned for failure to signal before entering roadway.

Traffic Stop, 4:51 p.m., Highway 226, Scio. Driver warned for improper lighting and improper display.

Traffic Stop, 5:13 p.m., NW Fourth Avenue, Scio. Driver warned for improper lighting.

Theft, 5:59 p.m., Robinson Drive, Scio. Deputy responded to a reported theft of a table saw and a saw stand.

Traffic Stop, 8:09 p.m., NW Fourth Avenue/NW Beech Street, Scio. Driver warned for speed.

Noise Disturbance, 11:09 p.m., Fir Street, Lyons. Deputy warned male for loud noise according to municipal code. Male was cooperative and agreed to stop playing his loud music.

Jan. 7

Traffic Stop, 10:44 a.m., Airport Road, Albany. Female, 30, of Scio was arrested for two outstanding warrants during a traffic stop. Female was also cited for driving while suspended violation, driving uninsured, failure to display plates and failure to carry registration.

Found Dog, 12:55 p.m., Montgomery Drive, Scio. 

Extra Patrol, 12:56 p.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Kimmel Park. Nothing suspicious found.

Assault, 2:20 p.m., Main Street, Lyons. Assault reported to deputies from the previous night. Subject, 33, of Lebanon was arrested and lodged in Linn County Jail for assault IV. Subject was also lodged on a Marion County warrant.

Traffic Stop, 2:21 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Driver warned for failure to register vehicle.

Traffic Stop, 2:28 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Driver warned for improper display.

Traffic Stop, 2:39 p.m., NW Alder Street, Mill City. Driver cited for failure to register vehicle.

Welfare Check, 3:09 p.m., SE Laurel Avenue, Mill City. Deputy checked on the welfare of an elderly female.

Trespass, 4:42 p.m., Highway 226, Scio. Male trespassing was told to move along.
