Extra Patrol, 8:31 a.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Deputies conducted extra patrols around Mill City. No reindeer evidence located.

Traffic Stop, 8:46 a.m., NE Wall Street/N First Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for failure to obey traffic control device.

Traffic Stop, 10:57 a.m., Stayton-Scio Road, Scio. Driver warned for unreadable license plate.

Disturbance, 1:51 p.m., SW Beech Street, Scio. Verbal altercation between couple. No crimes reported.

Traffic Stop, 3:27 p.m., Main and 15th streets, Lyons. Driver warned for expired registration.

Domestic Disturbance, 5:37 p.m., SW Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Deputies investigated a domestic disturbance. The report was forwarded to DA’s office for charging decisions.

Suspicious Circumstances, 8:03 p.m., Ridge Drive, Scio. DoorDash driver took a wrong driveway and a verbal altercation ensued with the property owner. No crimes.

Traffic Stop, 9:07 p.m., Main and 13th streets, Lyons. Driver warned for failing to signal.

Bike Traffic, 9:27 p.m., SW Ivy Street/SW Hall Avenue, Mill City. Bike rider warned for improper lighting.

Traffic Stop, 9:45 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd./NW Fifth Avenue, Mill City. Driver cited for driving uninsured and failure to register vehicle.

Disorderly Conduct, 9:50 p.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Male yelling near the walking bridge. Deputies contacted male who stated he had stubbed his toe. Male was advised to keep the yelling down at night.

Bike Traffic, 10:49 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive/SW 11th Avenue, Mill City. Bike rider warned for improper lighting.

Motorist Assist, 10:52 p.m., SW 11th Avenue/Lyons-Mill City Drive, Mill City. Deputies assisted broken down motorist.

Traffic Stop, 11:10 p.m., SW Broadway Street/S First Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for moving violation.

Traffic Stop, 2:33 a.m., NW Santiam Blvd./NW Second Avenue, Mill City. Driver cited for 64 MPH in 40 MPH zone.

Traffic Stop, 4:06 a.m., S First Avenue/SW Ivy Street, Mill City. Driver cited for driving while suspended and driving uninsured. Vehicle impounded.

911 Hang Up, 4:07 a.m., Stayton-Scio Road, Scio. Citizen called for assistance. Deputies unable to contact or locate.

Suspicious Vehicle, 10:38 a.m., Fisher Street, Scio. Deputies unable to locate.

Traffic Stop, 11:07 a.m., NW Alder Street, Mill City. Driver warned for failure to obey traffic control device.

Fraud, 11:50 a.m., Richardson Gap Road, Scio. Deputy responded to a theft report.

Shots Heard, 12:19 p.m., Camp Morrison Drive, Scio. Deputy responded to a report of a neighbor hearing someone shooting fully automatic weapons on BLM land. Deputy investigated and was unable to develop probable cause of a crime.

Traffic Stop, 12:36 p.m., NW Alder Street, Mill City. Driver warned for failure to register vehicle.

Domestic Disturbance, 1:36 p.m., SW Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Citizen reported history of domestic violence.

Suspicious Vehicle, 3:47 p.m., Sixth and Front streets, Lyons. Deputy was unable to locate truck reported to be parked on private property.

Assist Other Agency, 4:56 p.m., Richardson Gap Road, Scio. Agency assist for large burn pile.

Traffic Stop, 5:43 p.m., SE Three Lakes Road, Albany. Male, 53, of Scio was arrested on a warrant. He was also cited for driving while suspended violation and warned for expired vehicle registration.

Welfare Check, 9:49 p.m., SE Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. No public narrative.

Assist Other Agency, 10:56 p.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Deputies were called to assist with a medical event involving a juvenile.

Dec. 28

Forest Timber Patrol, 9:18 a.m., Camp Morrison Drive, Scio. Few people were seen. No issues observed.

Forest Timber Patrol, 9:38 a.m., Larwood Drive/Richardson Gap Road, Scio. Part of the area of Lonnie Anderson’s mine is now partially sunk in as if part of the mine collapsed.

Suspicious Circumstances, 11:35 a.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Deputy advised vacant building owner of an unlocked door to building.

Assist Other Agency, 2:08 p.m., Oupor Drive, Scio. Deputy assisted DHS in attempting contact with family. Nobody was home.

Forest Timber Patrol, 4:47 p.m., Camp Morrison Drive, Scio. No issues observed. No one was seen in the permit area.

Forest Timber Patrol, 4:48 p.m., Camp Morrison Drive, Scio. Deputy met with people who pick up trash in the Upper Neal Creek area. Deputy provided card for future information.

Traffic Stop, 5:07 p.m., SE Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Driver cited for illegal display of license plate.

Trespass, 10:06 p.m., SW Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Deputy told male he could not sleep in a post office.

Criminal Mischief, 11:16 p.m., SE Hazel Street, Mill City. Deputy contacted juveniles who were reportedly banging on the caller’s door. They were told to go home and stop the behavior.

Dec. 29

Found Property, 9:21 a.m., Shelburn Drive/Stayton-Scio Road, Scio. Citizen found a used syringe lying on the side of the road. The syringe was disposed of in a sharps container.

Traffic Stop, 9:42 a.m., NE Wall Street/N First Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for failure to obey a traffic control device.

Extra Patrol, 10:30 a.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Deputy spoke to individual regarding ongoing issue. Individual passed on further information regarding nearby residence that seems to be the cause of possible criminal activity in the area.

Suspicious Circumstances, 11:15 a.m., Lulay Road, Scio. Deputy spoke with individual regarding custody and civil issues.

Dog Complaint, 12:35 p.m., Ridge Drive, Scio. Deputy caught two stray dogs and was able to return them to owners.

Harassment, 1:12 p.m., Fourth Street, Scio. Deputy responded to a burglary which occurred in March 2023.

Extra Patrol, 1:36 p.m., SE Willow Street/SE Blossom Avenue, Idanha. Nothing suspicious.

Traffic Stop, 3:30 p.m., SW Linn Blvd., Mill City. Driver warned for no plates.

Domestic Disturbance, 3:43 p.m., NW Beech Street, Scio. Domestic between ex-partners. Victim did not wish to pursue charges for harassment.

Suspicious Vehicle, 4:14 p.m., Highway 226, Scio. Deputy checked on vehicle. No crimes.

Suspicious Person, 5:18 p.m., Gisler Road, Scio. Caller reported suspicious male came to her house. Deputies checked the property and did not locate anyone in the area.

Bike Traffic, 8:11 p.m., SW Ivy Street/S First Avenue, Mill City. Male, 40, of Idanha was arrested and lodged at Linn County Jail for escape in the third degree, giving false information and offensive littering.

Dec. 30

Traffic Stop, 10:05 a.m., Cedar and Fifth streets, Lyons. Driver warned for expired registration.

Traffic Stop, 10:40 a.m., Cedar and Fifth streets, Lyons. Driver warned for expired registration.

Traffic Stop, 11 a.m., Fifth Street/Ash Lane, Lyons. Male, 35, of Lyons was arrested for driving while suspended misdemeanor and multiple warrants.

Suspicious Circumstances, 12:48 p.m., Highway 226, Scio. Caller reported two bags left at park. Bags appear to belong to transient and were removed from park.

Traffic Stop, 2 p.m., NE Alder and NE Wall streets, Mill City. Driver warned for expired registration.

Traffic Stop, 3:16 p.m., Main Street, Lyons. Driver warned for expired registration.

Traffic Stop, 3:25 p.m., Fifth Street, Lyons. Driver warned for expired registration.

Suspicious Vehicle, 10:26 p.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Caller reported possible burglary. Nothing was missing and no damage was done.

Dec. 31

Noise Disturbance, 12:12 a.m., SE Juniper Street, Mill City. Caller reported loud music and people being extremely loud. Deputies contacted an employee of the location and advised they needed to quiet down.

Extra Patrol, 5:28 a.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Deputies contacted male and female at park after hours. They were educated on park rules and warned.

Civil Dispute, 7:59 a.m., Ridge Drive, Scio. Deputies spoke to individual regarding civil issue.

Extra Patrol, 9:04 a.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Patrol of Kimmel Park and businesses.

Accident, 1:11 p.m., Jordan Road, Scio. Deputies investigated non-injury crash.

Extra Patrol, 2:11 p.m., SE Church Street, Idanha.

Suspicious Circumstances, 3:49 p.m., Camp Morrison Drive, Scio. Shooting complaint at BLM rock pit, an area where shooting is allowed. No further action.

Shots Heard, 6:10 p.m., Stayton-Scio Road, Scio. Shots heard. Nothing illegal.

Shots Heard, 8:30 p.m., Richardson Gap Road, Scio. Deputy checked area for source of either gunfire or fireworks but could not determine where the sounds were coming from.

Suspicious Circumstances, 9:10 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Caller reported someone shined a green laser light at her while driving. Caller was unsure where the light came from.

Firework Complaint, 10 p.m., SW Dogwood Street, Scio. Deputy was in area and did not see any fireworks. Caller did not know who was lighting them.

Shots Heard, 10:05 p.m., Stayton-Scio Road, Scio. Caller reported shooting in the area but deputy did not hear anyting shooting. Caller did not know where it was coming from.

Illegal Camping, 4:04 p.m., Thomas Creek Drive, Scio. Person was in day-use area and was getting ready to leave when deputy arrived. He admitted to shooting and having a campfire. He believed he was on BLM land but was on WeyCo property. He was given a warning and was cooperative.
