In Memoriam: Mary Kirsch (May 24, 1934 – Nov. 14, 2023)

Mary Faith Kirsch, 89, passed away in Sublimity Nov. 14, 2023, surrounded by her family.

She was born on May 24, 1934, to Gregory and Maudeen (Archibald) Robl in Salem, and grew up near Victor Point outside Sublimity. She attended St. Boniface Grade School and Stayton High School, where she met Dale Kirsch. They married on Sept. 22, 1956.

 Mary and Dale owned and operated Kirsch True Value Hardware Store in Mill City from 1972 to 2002. Mary was also an x-ray technician for 20 years with Salem Hospital. 

The couple raised five children, and enjoyed 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. They lived for 12 years on a farm outside Stayton and 44 years in the Mill City/Gates area. 

Mary served her community through works including the Santiam Scholarship Committee. Her hobbies included her love for family and friends, gardening, and RV camping. 

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Kirsch, on June 2, 2018; two brothers; and two sisters. 

She is survived by her children, Bryan and Timothy (Theresa) Kirsch, Kimberly Butt, Cynthia Zosel and Gail Savarese; brother, Greg Robl; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.  

Services will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Stayton on Jan. 20, 2024. Rosary begins at 9:15 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. A reception will follow. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
