‘Christmas Extravaganza’ this Saturday in Mill City

The inaugural Santiam Canyon Christmas Extravaganza is planned to start Saturday, Dec. 2, with events throughout the day in Mill City.

The festival is organized through Santiam Canyon PTO and Santiam Young Life, with support from the City of Mill City and Santiam Canyon School District.

Ugly Sweater Fun Run

Race begins at 10 a.m. at Santiam Junior/Senior High gymnasium. Entry is $20 per person, or free for those younger than 18 with a suggested donation. The course follows a 3.25-mile loop throughout town, and proceeds support the PTO.

A brief “Kiddie Dash” will kick off the race, while the end will feature free cookies and hot chocolate for racers.

Santiam Canyon Holiday Bazaar

Held from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Santiam Junior/Senior gymnasium and auditorium. Vendors will feature gifts, food and holiday crafts from both local businesses and nonprofits. 

There will also be a silent auction and raffle to benefit the PTO, and a food drive for the Santiam Outreach Community Center.

Pictures with Santa

During the bazaar, pictures are $5 each and proceeds will support Young Life. The organization will also raise funds with a bake sale.

Christmas Tree Lighting 

Planned for 5:30 p.m. outside City Hall and featuring live entertainment, refreshments and an appearance by Santa.Local singing groups are expected to perform, while Mayor Tim Kirsch has also been asked to say a few words.
