Free business workshops in Detroit, Stayton

A series of free workshops about small businesses is scheduled for November and December in the Santiam Canyon, with a focus on writing business plans and applying for loans.

Organized by the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) of Chemeketa Community College, the workshops will provide information for those wishing to start or expand a business.

Three of the business plan workshops remain: Nov. 15 and 29 and Dec. 6 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Detroit City Hall, 345 W Santiam Ave.

Topics will include how to select the right business entity to register as, analyze the competition, create a marketing strategy and develop financial expectations.

Single-session business plan workshops are also scheduled from 2:30 to 4 p.m. on Nov. 14 at Detroit City Hall and Dec. 12 at Stayton Community Center, 400 W.
