Two arrested after shots fired in tavern

Two Mill City men were arrested after shots were fired outside a local tavern following an attempted altercation inside the business.

Trenton Stafford, 31, and Michael Baney, 26, were arrested Sept. 9 following an incident at Trio Tavern on SW Linn Blvd., in Mill City.

According to a news release from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, Stafford and Baney allegedly attempted to pick a fight with another bar patron and were told to leave. 

They departed and, while in the parking lot, multiple gunshots were allegedly fired into the air.

Deputies found multiple spent 5.56 rifle casings on the roadway. Witnesses identified Stafford and Baney as the alleged suspects. 

Deputies made contact with the pair and recovered a short-barrel rifle and revolver.

Stafford was arrested for fourth-degree assault, second-degree disorderly conduct and third-degree criminal mischief and faces up to a year in jail. 

Baney was arrested for unlawful use of a weapon, reckless endangering, second-degree disorderly conduct and unlawful possession of a short-barrel rifle and faces up to five years in prison.
