Linn County Sheriff’s Office Log: Aug. 1 – 7

Aug. 1

Harassment, 12:02 p.m., Ridge Drive, Scio. Deputies documented a citizen’s concern regarding a mentally disabled individual and unwanted contact over Facebook.

Domestic Disturbance, 3:29 p.m., Locust Street, Lyons.

Fraud, 5:34 p.m., SE Whitten Road, Mill City. Report of identity theft. Ongoing investigation.

Suspicious Circumstances, 6:38 p.m., Highway 226/Farris Road, Scio. Mysterious bones located near the Franklin Butte Masonic Cemetery. Deputy found them to be deer bones. Deputy disposed of them to avoid future confusion.

Trespass, 7:47 p.m., NW Alder Street, Mill City. Disturbance at laundromat. Situation calmed down and offenders were trespassed.

Found Dog, 7:51 p.m., SW Hall Avenue, Mill City. Dog was not out when deputies arrived. Owners are not known.

Suspicious Person, 9:28 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Person was gone when deputies arrived.

Suspicious Vehicle, 9:54 p.m., Main Street, Lyons. Deputies found a female unresponsive in the rear seat of a vehicle. Believing this to be a medical emergency, deputies broke a window and learned the occupant was not suffering from a medical emergency. Female was assisted in finding a ride home.

Suspicious Vehicle, 10:10 p.m., NE Alder Street, Mill City. Person in vehicle had permission to be there.

Suspicious Person, 10:32 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Deputy contacted male in parking lot of closed business. Male left the parking lot.

Aug. 2

Suspicious Person, 1:28 a.m., Richardson Gap Road, Scio. Deputies contacted several people at a business. They were employees working the night shift.

Traffic Stop, 7:35 a.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Male, 37, of Mill City was cited in lieu of custody for three outstanding warrants. Also driving while suspended; failure to carry proof of insurance.

Counter Traffic, 8:58 a.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Deputies spoke with male regarding recovery of stolen mail.

Disturbance, 9:43 a.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Verbal argument between two males. Parties were separated and reached a compromise for the day.

Welfare Check, 11:10 a.m., Highway 226, Scio. Person had been in the hospital but was doing better.

Dog Complaint, 11:22 a.m., SW Douglas Street, Mill City.

Traffic Stop, 12:39 p.m., Mertz Drive/Cole School Road, Stayton. Male, 50, of Scio was cited in lieu of custody for an outstanding warrant, and cited for driving while suspended and driving uninsured.

Suspicious Person, 2:24 p.m., SW Ivy Street/S First Avenue, Mill City. Deputies tried to locate a male with warrants.

Traffic Stop, 2:39 p.m., SE Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Driver cited for driving uninsured.

Illegal Camping, 2:54 p.m., Rock Creek Road/Kingwood Avenue, Gates. Deputies located an illegal camp with no one around. Will try to contact campers at a different time.

Traffic Complaint, 3:26 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive/Neighbors Lane, Lyons. Caller had a question about her windshield being damaged by a log truck that drove by. Caller was advised to work with her insurance company.

Traffic Stop, 5:12 p.m., 24th Street, Lyons. Driver cited for driving while suspended and driving uninsured.

Warrant, 7:53 p.m., Rock Creek Road, Gates. Male, 43, of Mill City was arrested and transported to Linn County Jail on an outstanding warrant.

Suicidal Subject, 8:44 p.m., Kingwood Avenue/Rock Creek Road, Mill City. Deputies attempted to locate a male from an hour and a half old phone ping. He was not found at the location.

Aug. 3

Suspicious Person, 6:08 a.m., SW Myrtle Street/SW Second Avenue, Mill City. Male sleeping in his car. Male was woken and advised he should be on his way.

Violation of Order, 1:28 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Male, 54, of Lyons was arrested for violation of a restraining order; lodged at Linn County Jail.

Hit and run, 6:12 p.m., Mehama Lyons Highway/Highway 22, Lyons. Deputies determined incident occurred in Marion County and was relayed to their agency.

Assist Other Agency, 7:57 p.m., Highway 22/NW Santiam Blvd, Mill City. Deputies attempted to locate motorcycle involved in elude in Mill City.

Disturbance, 9:22 p.m., Goar Road, Scio. Deputies responded to a disturbance involving a knife. Ongoing investigation.

Suspicious Vehicle, 11:05 p.m., Farris Road/Highway 226, Scio. Deputies attempted to locate suspicious vehicle that left area.

Aug. 4

Person Assist, 8:29 a.m., Thomas Drive, Scio. Caller was told he needed to contact OSP.

Accident, 9:23 a.m., Jefferson-Scio Drive, Scio. Motor vehicle crash investigated. Driver was issued a citation for following too closely.

Extra Patrol, 7:01 p.m., Main Street, Lyons. Citizen requested extra patrol.

Aug. 5

Suspicious Person, 4:44 a.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Citizen reported a person fishing off the bridge.

Juvenile Complaint, 8:31 a.m., NW Alder Street, Scio. Deputies responded to a juvenile who walked away from a residence.

Abandoned Vehicle, 10:03 a.m., Rock Creek Road, Gates. ODF reported vehicle blocking camping area. Vehicle was moved prior to deputy’s arrival.

Trespass, 1:48 p.m., NE Wall Street, Mill City. Deputies unable to locate.

Suspicious Vehicle, 1:51 p.m., Seventh Street, Lyons. Deputy spoke with caller about suspicious vehicle driving through neighborhood. Deputy could not locate described vehicle.

Traffic Stop, 4:09 p.m., NW Second Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for failure to renew registration.

Suspicious Circumstances, 4:25 p.m., Thomas Creek Drive/Highway 226, Scio. Report of vehicles parked in a creek. Deputies were unable to locate.

Theft, 5:09 p.m., SW Evergreen Street, Mill City. Report of burglary of $3,300 from a residence. Ongoing investigation.

Trespass, 6:13 p.m., Miller Cemetery Road, Scio. Information documented.

Police Officer Hold, 6:55 p.m., Main Street, Lyons. Deputies took a citizen into custody for a POH after attempted suicide.

Suspicious Circumstances, 7:02 p.m., Stayton-Scio Road, Scio. Medics arrived and determined it was a medical event. Male refused to go to hospital. Harassment, 7:03 p.m., SW Fourth Avenue, Mill City. Report a neighbor was saying rude things to caller and her children. Information documented.

Mental Health, 8:04 p.m., Main Street, Lyons. Deputy assisted person in checking their property at their request.

Suspicious Vehicle, 10:33 p.m., Richardson Gap Road, Scio. Caller reported a suspicious vehicle in church parking lot after hours. Vehicle left prior to deputy’s arrival, and all appeared well at the church.

Aug. 6

Traffic Complaint, 1:20 a.m., SW Second Avenue, Mill City. Deputy searched the area after a person reported motorcycles racing down the street. Deputies responded within minutes and were unable to locate the motorcycles.

Civil Dispute, 4:10 a.m., Eighth Street, Lyons. Deputies contacted citizen regarding a civil dispute. No crimes.

Dog Complaint, 11:23 a.m., SE Hazel Street, Mill City. Deputies informed citizen of city ordinances regarding noise.

Trespass, 5:45 p.m., Highway 226, Scio. Caller reported people who were looking at a property that was for sale.

Criminal Mischief, 5:58 p.m., Larwood Drive, Scio. Vehicle’s lugnuts were stolen at Larwood Park.

Forest Timber Patrol, 8:10 p.m., Henness Lane, Gates.

Abandoned Vehicle, 8:31 p.m., Monument Peak Road, Gates. Fifth-wheel trailer abandoned on Santiam State Forest. Ongoing investigation.

Aug. 7

Traffic Stop, 3:34 a.m., Shilling Drive/Stayton-Scio Road, Scio. Driver warned for moving violation.

Illegal Camping, 10:19 a.m., NE Seventh Avenue/NE Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Deputies contacted male who was in process of leaving the area.

Warrant, 10:56 a.m., E Bilyeu Creek Drive, Scio. Male, 37, of Scio was cited in lieu of custody for an outstanding warrant.

Security Check, 12:10 p.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Nothing suspicious observed.

Illegal Camping, 1:33 p.m., Rock Creek Road, Gates. ODF gave the group a deadline to be gone. LSCO will respond to make sure the deadline is met.

Forest Timber Patrol, 2:18 p.m., Thomas Creek Drive, Scio.

Harassment, 2:21 p.m., Juniper Street, Lyons. Report of male who called citizen several times and called citizen vulgar names. Citizen only wanted information documented.

Abandoned Vehicle, 3:29 p.m., Monument Peak Road, Gates. Fifth wheel abandoned on Santiam State Forest. Suspect identified and investigation is ongoing.

Disturbance, 3:48 p.m., 13th Street, Lyons. Deputies handled civil disagreement.

Forest Timber Patrol, 4:20 p.m., Monument Peak Road, Gates.

Littering Violation, 4:48 p.m., Monument Peak Road, Gates. Abandoned trailer and large amounts of trash on BLM lands. Ongoing investigation.

Civil Dispute, 4:52 p.m., SW Cedar Street, Mill City. Deputies responded to a civil dispute over personal belongings.

Forest Timber Patrol, 4:57 p.m., Monument Peak Road, Gates.

Abandoned Vehicle, 5:24 p.m., Thomas Creek Drive, Scio. Deputies checked on abandoned vehicle. Vehicle was still present. Deputies will send Trespass II charges to the District Attorney’s Office for warrant consideration due to the suspect living out of the area.

Forest Timber Patrol, 5:39 p.m., Camp Morrison Drive, Scio.

Traffic Stop, 5:54 p.m., SW Broadway Street, Mill City. Driver warned for expired tags.

Suspicious Vehicle, 6:11 p.m., Crabtree Drive, Scio. Caller reported his stolen vehicle was located. Salem PD advised vehicle was not actually stolen and the ownership of the vehicle was a civil issue.

Extra Patrol, 8:08 p.m., Kingwood Avenue, Mill City.
