Linn County Sheriff’s Office Log: July 1 – 7

July 1

Burglary, 9:42 a.m., 13th Street, Lyons. Burglary and stolen vehicle from a residence. Vehicle was found later that day completely stripped. Neighbors have video of the incident. Under investigation.

Suspicious Person, 2:35 p.m., NW First Avenue, Scio. Caller reported suspicious activity at the grade school after hours.

Shots Heard, 10:44 p.m., Shimanek Bridge Drive, Scio. Caller would speak to neighbor and handle it herself, but wanted the occurrence documented.

July 2

Accident, 1:21 a.m., Highway 22, Idanha. Non-injury.

Water Rescue, 1:38 a.m., Highway 22, Idanha.

Found Property, 1:40 p.m., Neal Park Road, Lyons. Information not good enough to locate said found property.

Dog Complaint, 7:15 p.m., Xmas Tree Road, Gates. Caller reported concerns about a dog owner’s behavior. None of the concerns were criminal in nature.

Traffic Complaint, 9:13 p.m., SW First Avenue, Mill City. Deputy searched the area for a complaint of a pit bike driving on the road. Deputies were unable to locate.

Weapons Offense, 10:05 p.m., NW Alder Street, Mill City. Deputies investigated a disturbance about fireworks.

Fireworks Complaint, 10:47 p.m., Jefferson-Scio Drive, Scio. Aerial fireworks complaint. None seen by deputies.

July 3

Suspicious Vehicle, 12:40 a.m., Locust Street, Lyons. Deputies investigated.

Suspicious Vehicle, 1:04 a.m., S Ruby Loop/Gilkey Road, Scio. Suspicious vehicle parked on S Ruby Loop. The owners came back to it a short time later.

Suspicious Circumstances, 9:48 a.m., Highway 22, Idanha. Determined the female was suffering from a mental health crisis. No crimes were committed.

Trespass, 3:44 p.m., Richardson Gap Road, Scio. Deputy spoke with caller about people accessing river on her private property.

Assist Other Agency, 6:14 p.m., Highway 22, Idanha. Assisted with an arson investigation in Marion County.

Person Assist, 6:27 p.m., Highway 22, Idanha. Male drove from Mill City on logging roads. A motorcycle in front of him locked Slate Creek Gate before the male went through. Caller was low on gas. Male had gas delivered and went back the way he came.

Fireworks Complaint, 8:23 p.m., SW Ivy Street, Mill City. Deputies drove through the area and did not see any illegal fireworks.

Assist Other Agency, 8:44 p.m., Highway 22, Idanha. Attempted to locate a male who needed assistance earlier.

Forest Timber Patrol, 8:57 p.m., Highway 22, Idanha. Checked on abandoned motor home tagged by USFS. Fireworks Complaint, 9:36 p.m., SW Douglas Street/SW Fifth Avenue, Mill City. Deputies unable to locate.

Traffic Stop, 10:33 p.m., SE Hazel Street, Mill City. Driver cited for driving while suspended violation and driving uninsured.

Noise Disturbance, 11:08 p.m., Hungry Hill Drive, Scio. Deputies responded to a call about dogs barking but did not hear any.

July 4

Extra Patrol, 9:59 a.m., Mill City. Parade duty and park patrols at Kimmel Park events.

Traffic Stop, 10:47 a.m., Main Street, Lyons. Driver warned for speed.

Theft, 11:32 a.m., Main Street, Lyons. Deputies investigated missing wheels and tires valued at $1,200.

Suspicious Circumstances, 12:14 p.m., NE Fifth Avenue, Mill City. Text app number called a random person asking for help. Deputies could not get in contact with person with the text app number.

Suspicious Circumstances, 12:48 p.m., Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Woman was told to stop exposing herself.

Traffic Stop, 12:58 p.m., Kingwood Avenue/SW Ivy Street, Mill City. Driver cited for driving without a driver’s license and driving uninsured.

Traffic Stop, 1:20 p.m., S First Avenue/SW Cedar Street, Mill City. Driver cited for driving while suspended violation.

Foot Patrol, 1:21 pm., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Deputies conducted foot patrol of Kimmel Park.

Traffic Stop, 1:37 p.m., S First Avenue/SW Broadway Street, Mill City. Driver cited for driving without driving privileges.

Welfare Check, 2:59 p.m., Fifth Street, Lyons. A welfare check was requested for a male seen near the school. Male was not located.

Traffic Stop, 3:33 p.m., SW Broadway Street/SW Greenwood Place, Mill City. Driver warned for equipment violation.

Security Check, 4:19 p.m., SW Linn Blvd., Mill City. Bar check at Trio. AC was out so not many patrons.

Trespass, 6:06 p.m., Camp Morrison Drive, Scio. Trespassers on property left prior to deputy’s arrival and caller advised police were no longer needed.

Trespass, 6:21 p.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Caller is being evicted from the home and had some questions about the process. Caller was unhappy with the pressure from the owner to move out.

Fireworks Complaint, 7:19 p.m., Ash Street, Lyons. Deputies out of position; will check area when available.

Trespass, 7:45 p.m., Jordan Road, Scio. Deputies responded. Trespassers were gone upon arrival.

Extra Patrol, 9:19 p.m., SE Kinwood Avenue, Mill City. Patrolled town talking with people and handing out stickers.

Suspicious Circumstances, 9:20 p.m., NE Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Male, 30, of Mill City was issued a citation in lieu of custody for a Marion County warrant.

Fireworks Complaint, 9:24 p.m., SW Fourth Avenue, Mill City. Fireworks complaint at a large commercial enclosed compound; no way to get in to contact the mischief makers.

Fireworks Complaint, 10:02 p.m., NW Fourth Avenue, Mill City. Deputies tied up on high priority calls; will check area as they become available.

Fireworks Complaint, 10:58 p.m., SW Ivy Street, Mill City. Deputies unable to locate source.

Domestic Disturbance, 11:42 p.m., SE Second Avenue, Mill City. Deputy investigated disturbance between a couple. Report sent for DA review. No arrests.

July 5

Noise Disturbance, 12:22 a.m., Rodgers Mountain Loop, Scio. Deputies sat in the area but were unable to locate anything out of the ordinary.

Violation of Order, 3:29 a.m., Fifth Street, Lyons. Male, 26, of Lyons was arrested and lodged at Linn County Jail for violation of his court ordered release agreement.

Criminal Mischief, 8:09 a.m., Miller Cemetery Road, Scio. Window broken at vacant house. Caller only wanted it documented.

Parking Complaint, 1:20 p.m., Oak and 25th streets, Lyons.

Criminal Mischief, 1:53 p.m., N Main Street, Scio. Deputy responded to a report of criminal mischief to a 2007 Kawasaki Ninja resulting in more than $2,700 in damage. Ongoing investigation.

Civil Dispute, 2:44 p.m., Highway 226, Scio. Spoke with caller about a property line.

Sex Offense, 4:16 p.m., Blowout Road, Idanha. No public narrative.

Trespass, 4:38 p.m., Jordan Road, Scio. Caller who believed a group of people were trespassing.

Domestic Disturbance, 6:54 p.m., SW Spring Street, Mill City. Deputies responded to disturbance that ended up being verbal and civil in nature.

Suspicious Circumstances, 9:06 p.m., Freeman Road/Highway 226, Scio. Deputies searched area for female near bridge. No signs of anyone in distress.

Trespass, 9:25 p.m., SE Willow Street, Idanha. Deputies spoke with individuals regarding complicated civil/family issue.

July 6

Criminal Mischief, 12:17 a.m., SW Spring Street, Mill City. 

Criminal Mischief, 8:08 a.m., NW First Avenue, Scio. Criminal mischief damages totalling $500.

Criminal Mischief, 11:13 a.m., SW 11th Avenue, Mill City. Caller reported small fire possibly started by a firework being thrown from a moving vehicle. Deputy collected evidence and spoke to witnesses.

Abandoned Vehicle, 11:44 a.m., NE Wall Street, Mill City. Vehicle broken down for a few days. Gas tank was repaired, and was back on the road after a few days.

Civil Dispute, 1:20 p.m., Main Street, Lyons. Deputy answered questions regarding a no contact order.

Extra Patrol, 1:34 p.m., NE Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Deputies checked at different times with no signs of trespassing.

Forest Timber Patrol, 3:29 p.m., Thomas Creek Drive, Scio. Vehicle warned for partially blocking a gate to access swimming hole.

Found Property, 4:55 p.m., SW Spring Street, Mill City. Wallet returned.

Traffic Hazard, 6:26 p.m., Crabtree Drive, Scio. Report of a stop sign being down. Appears vehicle hit the sign.

Trespass, 7:01 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Caller reported a suspicious female came onto their property when they weren’t home.

Criminal Mischief, 7:32 p.m., SW Spring Street, Mill City. Deputies provided information for an ongoing investigation.

Warrant, 7:54 p.m., SW Hall Avenue, Mill City. Male, 24, arrested and booked at Linn County Jail for an outstanding warrant.

Warrant, 8:49 p.m., Crabtree Drive, Scio. Subject, 48, of Crabtree was arrested for LMC and AMC warrants.

Theft, 9:38 p.m., Shelburn Drive, Scio. Report of motorcycle theft.

July 7

Suspicious Circumstances, 8:29 a.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Mill City. Deputy spoke with caller regarding their neighbor’s suspicious activities.

Suspicious Person, 9:40 a.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Person with a question about how to handle garbage left on church property by transients.

Trespass, 10:17 a.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Deputies attempted to locate trespassers.

Trespass, 1:31 p.m., SE Mountain Avenue, Idanha. Deputies spoke with the camp host about unruly tenants.

Suspicious Circumstances, 2:30 p.m., Elm Street, Lyons. Citizen reported someone attempted to break into his home. The attempt was unsuccessful.

Suspicious Circumstances, 2:36 p.m., Rodgers Mountain Loop, Scio. Deputies responded to a hole in a sheep pasture fence. All sheep were accounted for and no signs of foul play were observed.

Fireworks Complaint, 10:41 p.m., Franklin Butte Road, Scio. Deputies were unable to locate.
