Linn County Sheriff’s Office Log: June 5 – 8

June 5

Trespass, 3:33 a.m., N First Avenue, Mill City. Deputies responded to a trespass. Deputies were unable to locate anyone. No items were taken; no damage was caused.

Suspicious Vehicle, 8:35 a.m., Fifth Street, Lyons. Ongoing issue with suspicious vehicle. Driver was reminded of trespass from location.

Traffic Stop, 12:15 p.m., Highway 226, Scio. Driver cited for 85 MPH in 55 MPH zone.

Traffic Stop, 2:54 p.m., NE Alder Street/NE Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Driver warned for failure to register vehicle.

Motorist Assist, 7:38 p.m., Jefferson-Scio Drive, Scio. Deer needed to be dispatched due to severe injuries.

June 6

Fraud, 7:40 a.m., SW Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Report of online fraud with a Walmart account.

Extra Patrol, 8:31 a.m., Fish Hatchery Drive/Meridian Road, Scio. Deputy patrolled area and had complaint listed on briefing board for other patrol teams.

Suspicious Vehicle, 8:31 a.m., Hungry Hill Drive, Scio. Deputies checked on a camp underneath Hoffman Bridge. One person was contacted and asked to leave.

Minor in Possession, 3:02 p.m., Highway 226/Jordan Road, Scio. Four persons from Salem were cited for possession of marijuana by a person under 18.

Criminal Mischief, 3:38 p.m., Oupor Drive, Scio. Caller’s mailbox was knocked off its post. No damage.

Suspicious Vehicle, 7:11 p.m., Goar Road, Scio. Caller reported two suspicious vehicles parked in front of his residence. While deputies were enroute, caller advised the vehicles had left.

Suspicious Vehicle, 10:38 p.m., Sixth Street, Lyons. Vehicle had wrong plate and it was removed.

Traffic Stop, 11:01 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive/AK Lane, Lyons. Female, 51, of Mill City, was cited for driving while suspended violation; jailed for a warrant.

Dog Complaint, 11:51 p.m., SW Hall Avenue, Mill City. Caller believed something was “going on.” Deputy could not locate any situation.

June 7

Theft, 7:39 a.m., 10th Street, Lyons. Male, 28, of Salem, was arrested for unauthorized use of a vehicle, elude and several outstanding warrants. Male was seen stealing a Jeep Cherokee from Lyons and fleeing from deputies. He was eventually located on foot and taken into custody. He was transported to Linn County Jail.

Trespass, 9:03 a.m., Ridge Drive/Miller Cemetery Road, Scio. Deputy responded to report of trespassing issue. During the investigation, male, 38, of Lebanon, cited in lieu of custody on two outstanding warrants. 

Mail Theft, 10:08 a.m., NE Santiam Pointe Loop, Mill City. Report of ongoing theft of outgoing mail. The victim had footage of vehicle involved. Deputy shared video with patrol in hopes of identifying the suspect.

Theft, 1:20 p.m., Kingwood Avenue, Gates. Male, 28, of Salem was arrested for two counts of unauthorized use of a vehicle, elude, mail theft and active warrants out of Deschutes, Marion and Linn counties. He fled from deputies in a stolen vehicle that was later recovered with stolen property located in it. He had utilized the vehicle to also steal another involved vehicle.

Theft, 2:51 p.m., SE Ivy Street, Mill City. Deputies spoke with a male who reported his vehicle stolen after letting an ex-girlfriend take the vehicle for a test drive.

Mail Theft, 6:52 p.m., SW Hall Avenue, Mill City. Deputies received several mail theft reports in Mill City.

Traffic Stop, 8:18 p.m., SW Linn Blvd., Mill City. Driver warned for equipment violation.

Traffic Stop, 8:54 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd./NW Ninth Avenue, Mill City. Driver cited for 59 MPH in 40 MPH zone.

Accident, 8:58 p.m., Crabtree Drive, Scio. Female, 22, cited for failure to maintain lane and failure to carry proof of insurance for Lebanon Justice Court after a vehicle crash causing $2,000 in private property damage.

Traffic Stop, 9:10 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd./NW Ninth Street, Mill City. Driver cited for 59 MPH in 40 MPH zone.

Traffic Stop, 9:32 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd./NW Ninth Street, Mill City. Driver cited for 56 MPH in 40 MPH zone.

Illegal Camping, 10:41 p.m., SE Fourth Avenue, Mill City. Deputies found an illegal camp off Shepherd’s Lane. 

June 8

Welfare Check, 11:05 a.m., SE Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Person calling in a welfare check, which has been performed several times and determined to be family attempting to harass a mother. Attempted phone contact with the caller did not go through.
