Mari-Linn hosting retirement party

Two long-time educators at Mari-Linn School will be honored with a retirement party from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, June 16 at the school, 641 Fifth St. in Lyons.

Retiring are Jeri Harbison and Evelyn Johnson. All current and former Hornets are invited to join in to wish them well in future endeavors.

Harbison has spent 27 years with the North Santiam School District, including her role as principal at Mari-Linn since 2010. Harbison also served as resource teacher at Mari-Linn as well as special education director with the district.

Her colleagues describe her as someone who “knows the community well” and was able to make a difference in the lives of students and their families.

Johnson has spent the past 25 years at Mari-Linn in a variety of roles, from recess and office duty and volunteering to get a pie in the face for a cause to working with students on reading. Johnson’s final role at Mari-Linn was as a Title I assistant. Colleagues cited her easy-going personality and grace as well as her “deep love for students.”

For more information on the party call the school office at 503-859-2154.
