In Memoriam: Lee Edwards (April 28, 1948 – March 10, 2023)

“Lee” Arthur LeRoy Edwards, Jr., 74, of Mill City died March 10, 2023. He was born on April 28, 1948, in Norfolk, Va., to Arthur Edwards Sr and Lily (Fields) Edwards. 

Lee graduated from high school and joined the U.S. Army, where he trained. After being discharged, he earned an associate degree in Virginia. He moved to the West Coast and operated his own consulting company for 25 years. 

Lee meet his wife, Leesa Fuller, through his business. He hired Leesa and six weeks after hiring her, asked her on a date. They were married on Aug. 22, 1987 and spent many years out of suitcases, traveling all over for their business. 

Eventually, Lee and Leesa moved to Mill City, where they have lived for the last 20 years. He worked for Norpac in Stayton and did newspaper delivery for the Statesman Journal. 

When not working, Lee and Leesa enjoyed drag racing bikes, which they did for 10 years, watching NASCAR and collecting guns. 

They were also blessed with one daughter, Destiny Edwards. Lee enjoyed being a father and a Papa very much. 

Lee was preceded in death by his father, Arthur L. Edwards, Sr.; mother, Lily Dale (Fields) Edwards; an aunt; an uncle; and four cousins. 

Lee is survived by his wife, Leesa Edwards; daughter, Destiny Edwards; and granddaughter, Payton St. Peter. 

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Gates Community Church.
