Serial offender gets 10 more years in prison

Reporter for The Canyon Weekly

A Gates man was sentenced to 10 additional years in prison after violating the terms of Linn County Drug Court in multiple cases.

Billy Raymond Edge, 32, was sentenced March 1 in Linn County Circuit Court to 122 months in prison, to be served in addition to three years already imposed in a Wasco County case.

The sentence included convictions in eight separate Linn County cases involving vehicle theft, burglary, trespassing and similar property crimes since 2021. His most recent cases included the theft of four separate vehicles in Mill City and Lyons during October of 2021.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office also suspected Edge in new vehicle theft cases since the end of 2022. No new charges against Edge have been filed in these matters.

Edge first entered Drug Court in December of 2021 as part of a plea agreement. He was soon removed from the program after failing to appear for a scheduled drug test, then allowed to re-enter in February of 2022.

In November of 2022, Edge failed to appear for a Drug Court hearing and removed a court-ordered GPS ankle bracelet and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Edge was captured in The Dalles Dec. 9, 2022, following the thefts of two Hondas and a subsequent police chase.

Edge was convicted in Wasco County Circuit Court Dec. 28, 2022, of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and sentenced to three years in prison.

He still has outstanding cases in Polk County for a pending charge of vehicle theft, and in Marion County for probation violations for vehicle theft and vandalism.
