Linn County Sheriff’s Office Log: Feb. 7 – 13

Feb. 7

Suspicious Vehicle, 12:10 a.m., Mehama-Lyons Highway. Deputy checked on a suspicious vehicle behind the Mehama gas station. Driver had attempted to use the restroom facilities only to find them locked.

Traffic Stop, 5:59 a.m., SW Broadway Street, Mill City. Driver warned for speed.

Accident, 10:26 a.m., Farris Road/Montgomery Drive, Scio. Non-injury crash. Vehicle was a total loss.

Rescue, 12:15 p.m., Camp Morrison Drive, Scio. Male and female stuck in the snow overnight. Duo was not prepared, and were assisted to safety.

Traffic Stop, 6:47 p.m., NE Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Driver warned for speed.

Feb. 8

Accident, 7:19 a.m., Shelburn Drive/W Scio Road, Scio. Report of a truck hitting a sign. Vehicle was gone upon deputies’ arrival.

Assault, 8:07 p.m., NW First Avenue, Scio. Report taken.

Stolen Vehicle, 9:15 a.m., Fifth Street, Lyons. Report taken.

Suspicious Circumstance, 12:18 p.m., SE Ivy Street, Mill City. Report of bones found in a construction site hole. Bones determined to be non-human.

Feb. 9

Traffic Stop, 9:26 a.m., SE Cedar Street, Highway 226, Scio. Driver warned for not displaying license plate.

Juvenile Complaint, 10:25 a.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Deputies were unable to locate juvenile.

Suspicious Circumstance, 10:34 a.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Deputy responded to a call for suspicious people at the park. No one was found.

Extra Patrol, 1:32 p.m., Richardson Gap Road/Fish Hatchery Drive, Scio. Deputies monitored traffic in the area. No stop sign violations and highest speed was 68 MPH.

Suspicious Circumstance, 2:53 p.m., Fifth Street, Lyons. Deputies investigated potential threats being made by a juvenile.

Shots Heard, 5:55 p.m., NE Santiam Pointe Loop, Mill City. Caller reported a male was shooting geese. Shooter stated was trying to scare the birds off with noise from an airsoft rifle. 

Suspicious Vehicle, 9:14 p.m., N McCully Mountain Road, Lyons. RV occupant was contacted and asked to move on in the morning.

Noise Disturbance, 11:56 p.m., Main Street, Lyons. Caller reported hearing a loud hissing noise. Had stopped when deputies contacted caller.

Feb. 10

Traffic Stop, 11:58 a.m., Highway 226, Scio. Driver cited for failure to renew vehicle registration.

Extra Patrol, 3:17 p.m., NE Alder Street, Mill City. Focus on locating wanted subjects.

Animal Complaint, 4:30 p.m., Highway 226, Lyons. Deputies observed goats in the road and corralled them back to the wooded area.

Traffic Complaint, 8:09 p.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Deputies spoke with a citizen concerned about traffic speeds in a certain area.

Traffic Stop, 8:16 p.m., N First Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for expired registration.

Traffic Stop, 9:25 p.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Driver cited for driving while suspended.

Suspicious Circumstance, 10:01 p.m., NE Santiam Pointe Loop, Mill City. Homeowner had forgotten to close their garage door. Deputies made the homeowners aware.

Traffic Stop, 10:23 p.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Driver cited for driving while suspended – misdemeanor.

Traffic Stop, 10:27 p.m., N First Avenue/NE Wall Street, Mill City. Driver warned for speed.

Traffic Stop, 11:48 p.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for moving violation.

Feb. 11

Suspicious Vehicle, 12:31 a.m., SE Whitten Road, Mill City. Deputies contacted a suspicious vehicle on a dead-end road. Deputies asked the person to move along, which they did.

Traffic Stop, 12:31 a.m., Fifth Street/Juniper Lane, Lyons. Driver warned for speed.

Traffic Stop, 1:01 a.m., Fifth Street, Lyons. Driver cited for 63 MPH in 35 MPH zone and no insurance.

Traffic Stop, 1:04 a.m., S First Avenue/SW Broadway Street, Mill City. Driver warned for equipment violation.

Traffic Stop, 2:43 a.m., W Main Street, Lyons. Driver cited for 50 MPH in 35 MPH zone, driving while suspended and no insurance. Driver warned for failure to register vehicle.

Traffic Stop, 4:24 a.m., NW Santiam Blvd./NW Enterprise Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for speed.

Harassment, 11:57 a.m., 25th Street, Lyons. Deputies investigated parties involved with possible telephonic harassment.

Warrant, 3:35 p.m., W Main Street, Lyons. Male, 37, of Lyons was taken into custody and cited on active warrants.

Traffic Stop, 7 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Driver cited for driving while suspended and no driver’s license.

Traffic Stop, 8:20 p.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Driver was pulled over for expired insurance. Driver was able to show proof of current insurance.

Traffic Stop, 8:34 p.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Driver stopped for expired registration and insurance. Driver was able to provide proof of recent ownership and current insurance.

Traffic Stop, 8:48 p.m., S First Avenue/SE Grove Street, Mill City. Driver warned for equipment violation.

Traffic Stop, 9 p.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Male, 46, of Stayton was arrested for unlawful possession by person 21 years of age or older. He was also cited for driving while suspended and illegal alteration of plates.

Feb. 12

Traffic Stop, 2:28 a.m., N First Avenue/NW Alder Street, Mill City. Driver warned for traffic violation.

Suspicious Circumstance, 9:44 a.m., Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Deputies investigated an incident involving a bullet found inside a house.

Illegal Camping, 11:19 a.m., Monument Peak and Gates School roads, Gates. Deputies responded to a transient male illegally camped. Male was advised to leave.

Warrant, 12:55 p.m., Monument Peak and Gates School roads, Gates. Male, 54, of Lyons was cited and released for a Lebanon Justice Court probation warrant.

Traffic Stop, 4:41 p.m., Hungry Hill Drive, Scio. Driver warned for equipment violation.

Traffic Stop, 5:09 p.m., Highway 226, Lebanon. Male, 30, of Scio was issued an arrest citation for an Albany Municipal Court warrant. He was cited for speeding, driving while suspended, driving uninsured and expired tags.

Traffic Stop, 9:14 p.m., N First Avenue/NE Wall Street, Mill City. Driver cited for operating a vehicle without driving privileges.

Traffic Stop, 9:29 p.m., N First Avenue/NW Alder Street, Mill City. Driver pulled over for expired insurance. Driver was able to provide proof of current insurance.

Traffic Stop, 10:51 p.m., S First Avenue/Evergreen Street, Mill City. Driver warned for moving violation.

Feb. 13

Traffic Stop, 3:59 a.m., N First Avenue/NE Wall Street, Mill City. Driver warned for failure to carry proof of insurance.

Traffic Stop, 4:24 a.m., NE Wall Street/N First Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for expired registration.

Traffic Stop, 4:33 a.m., NE Wall Street/N First Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for expired tags.

Dog Complaint, 8:22 a.m., SW Broadway Street, Mill City. Investigated a dog being tied up outside the house. Warned owner of proper care for a dog.

Traffic Stop, 8:28 a.m., Highway 226/SW Second Avenue, Scio. Driver warned for speed.

Traffic Stop, 8:43 a.m., Highway 226, Scio. Driver warned for speed.

Dog Complaint, 9:48 a.m., Fifth Street, Lyons. Dog owner warned for dog as a public nuisance for barking.

Extra Patrol, 11:12 a.m., SW Evergreen Street, Mill City. Deputy spoke with a small class and answered questions from students.

Traffic Stop, 11:37 a.m., Highway 226/SW Second Avenue, Scio. Driver warned for speed.

Extra Patrol, 12:25 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Traffic enforcement. Highest speed observed was 64 MPH.

Traffic Stop, 1:17 p.m., Highway 226/SW Second Avenue, Scio. Driver warned for speed.

Traffic Stop, 1:39 p.m., Highway 226/SW Third Avenue, Scio. Driver warned for speed.

Burglary, 1:53 p.m., Gilkey Road, Scio. Firearms and vacuum were stolen.

Welfare Check, 4:53 p.m., Meritt Road, Scio. Female was fine and on her way to Taco Bell.
