Jan. 31

Animal Complaint, 10:55 a.m., Highway 226/Fish Hatchery Drive, Scio. Deputy conducted another welfare check on cattle at this location at the public’s request. No crimes or violations are being committed at this time.

Assist Other Agency, 2:41 p.m., Blowout Road, Idanha. Report of a possible suicidal subject in a remote area off Highway 22 and requested deputies check the area. Original caller called back and advised the subject had left and headed back to Yamhill County.

Suspicious Person, 5 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive/Mowitch Street, Lyons. Deputies spoke with a male standing near the area of a crash that occurred the previous day.

Traffic Stop, 6:08 p.m., Richardson Gap Road, Scio. Driver warned for speed.

Warrant, 11:45 p.m., Ninth Street, Lyons. Male, 38, of Lyons was arrested on a Linn County Circuit Court warrant and lodged at the jail.

Feb. 1

Suspicious Person, 9:14 a.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Mill City. Male, 37, of Mill City was cited on a warrant out of Mill City Municipal Court.

Found Property, 9:46 a.m., Cedar Street, Lyons. Wallet was found at Santiam State Park and turned in to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office. 

Traffic Stop, 10:17 a.m., NW Alder Street, Mill City. Driver warned for failure to yield a traffic control device.

Assist Other Agency, 10:25 a.m., SW Cedar Mill Street, Mill City. Deputies conducted an AOA regarding information gathering with the FBI.

Warrant, 11:24 a.m., SE Fourth Avenue, Mill City. Male, 62, of Mill City was arrested and booked at Linn County Jail on outstanding warrants.

Suspicious Vehicle, 1:24 p.m., E Gates Bridge/Green Mountain Road, Gates. Deputies spoke to a male about a vehicle in the timber of Linn County. Information was passed to Timber deputies.

Traffic Stop, 2:36 p.m., Highway 226, Scio. Driver warned for speed.

Suspicious Person, 9:22 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Person was identified as the store manager and was closing the store.

Dog Complaint, 9:53 p.m., SE Fourth Avenue, Mill City. Male, 35, of Salem was arrested and lodged at Linn County Jail for attempted assault III, menacing, harassment and criminal mischief I.

Feb. 2

Intoxicated Subject, 1:33 a.m., SW Linn Place/SW Sixth Avenue, Mill City. Deputies provided a courtesy ride home for a local who stumbled out of the Trio Tavern and fell near the roadway.

Suspicious Person, 9:01 a.m., Kingston-Jordan Drive, Scio. Deputies stopped and talked to a male walking down the road. Nothing suspicious.

Traffic Stop, 10:44 a.m., Gates School Road, Gates. Driver cited for driving without a license, failure to carry proof of insurance and failure to register vehicle.

Assist Other Agency, 2:38 p.m., Gates. Assisted FBI agent with locating parties involved with federal offense.

Traffic Stop, 3:33 p.m., Main and 14th streets, Lyons. Driver cited for driving while suspended.

Traffic Stop, 3:44 p.m., Main Street, Lyons. Driver cited for driving while suspended.

Traffic Stop, 4:01 p.m., Main Street, Lyons. Driver warned for no back license plate.

Traffic Stop, 4:10 p.m., Sixth Street, Lyons. Female, 38, of Lyons was cited and released for a Salem Municipal Court warrant for DUII. She was also cited for driving while suspended.

Littering Violation, 4:45 p.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Deputy answered questions the caretaker had regarding rights as caregivers to family. Syringes were properly discarded in a sharps container.

Traffic Stop, 10:14 p.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Driver cited for failure to carry proof of insurance.

Traffic Stop, 10:35 p.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for moving violation.

Traffic Stop, 11:10 p.m., SE Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Driver cited for failure to carry proof of insurance and registration.

Feb. 3

Traffic Stop, 1:06 a.m., SW Broadway Street/SW Fifth Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for equipment violation.

Traffic Stop, 1:55 a.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Vehicle shown as having expired insurance. Driver showed deputies current insurance.

Traffic Stop, 3:09 a.m., N First Avenue/NE Wall Street, Mill City. Driver warned for expired tags.

Traffic Stop, 3:42 a.m., S First Avenue/SE Grove Street, Mill City. Driver cited for failure to register vehicle.

Traffic Stop, 3:55 a.m., N First Avenue/NW Alder Street, Mill City. Male, 59, of Silverton was arrested and lodged at Linn County Jail for a U.S. Marshal’s warrant.

Traffic Stop, 6 a.m., Main and 19th streets, Lyons. Driver cited for speed.

Animal Complaint, 8:46 a.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Report of a suffering elk. Someone dispatched the elk before deputies arrived.

Forest Timber Patrol, 11:54 a.m., Highway 22, Idanha. Assisted Linn Co Animal Control with removing deceased dog off ACE property. It appeared the Mastiff died at another location and was dumped. Animal Control took dog to their facility for disposal.

Accident, 3:40 p.m., Richardson Gap Road/Fish Hatchery Drive, Scio. Non-injury motor vehicle crash.

Suspicious Vehicle, 5:32 p.m., Hungry Hill Drive, Scio. Deputy responded and found it was owned by a coyote hunter parked by their grandparents’ property.

Trespass, 6:12 p.m., Highway 226, Scio. Deputy contacted caller with concerns for people illegally harvesting a game animal. No crimes were determined to have been committed.

Shots Heard, 11:05 p.m., E Bilyeu Creek Drive, Scio. Caller reported hearing shooting in the county.

Feb. 4

Traffic Stop, 8:41 a.m., S First Avenue/SE Grove Street, Mill City. Driver warned for speed.

Lost Dog, 9:30 a.m., NE Cherry Street, Mill City. Deputy attempted to help locate lost dogs. Dogs were found by owner.

Littering Violation, 11:55 a.m., Kingston-Jordan Road/Sandner Drive, Scio. Report of an individual dumping trash. The individual and trash were not located in the area.

Traffic Stop, 12:13 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Driver warned for expired vehicle registration.

Disturbance, 12:38 p.m., NE Fourth Avenue, Mill City. Male, 52, of Mill City was arrested for harassment x2 and lodged at Linn County Jail.

Criminal Mischief, 12:50 p.m., Rodgers Drive, Scio. Ongoing neighbor dispute. Neighbor was directed to get video surveillance to attempt to catch the other neighbor committing crimes on his side of the property.

Suspicious Vehicle, 2:03 p.m., Sixth Street, Lyons. Deputy attempted to check on suspicious vehicle when it drove away. Vehicle was stopped and the driver was warned for equipment violations.

Traffic Stop, 2:05 p.m., Front Street, Lyons. Driver warned for equipment violations.

Assist Other Agency, 11:53 p.m., NE Ash Street, Scio. Deputies responded to a report of an overdose.

Feb. 5

Assault, 3:22 p.m., S McCully Mountain Road, Lyons. Welfare check for elderly female. The female was well taken care of and deputy spoke to multiple parties about ongoing civil issues.

Fraud, 3:27 p.m., E Gates Bridge, Gates. Report of a scam.

Dog Complaint, 7:08 p.m., Kapok Street, Lyons. Dog owner warned for violation of dog as a public nuisance.

Assist Other Agency, 11:41 p.m., Rodgers Mountain Loop, Scio. Medical staff needed assistance entering a home.

Feb. 6

Traffic Stop, 7:18 a.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Driver warned for speed.

Warrant, 9:17 a.m., Deford Street, Mill City. Male, 35, of Mill City was arrested and booked at the Linn County Jail on a Marion County warrant.

DUII, 6:31 p.m., SW Linn Blvd., Mill City. Deputy arrived on scene and the suspected vehicle was not seen in the parking lot. Deputy checked the lot twice.

Traffic Stop, 10:42 p.m., NE Santiam Blvd./NE Alder Street, Mill City. Aggressive driver.
