Dec. 27

Traffic Hazard, 5:10 a.m., Highway 226/W McCully Mountain Drive, Lyons. Deputy and citizens removed a tree that was across the road.

Extra Patrol, 7:56 a.m., Cedar Mill Road, Lyons. Extra patrol at Freres vacant warehouse.

Traffic Hazard, 8:02 a.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Deputies removed trash cans from the road that were blown over by the wind.

Traffic Hazard, 8:17 a.m., NE Alder Street, Mill City. Deputies found a tree blocking NE Alder. Mill City Public Works was able to remove it.

Traffic Hazard, 8:30 a.m., NW Eighth Place/NW River Road, Mill City. Fallen tree damaged power lines. Mill City Fire Department, the city of Mill City and Pacific Power were notified.

Fraud, 8:41 a.m., S Ruby Loop, Scio. Deputies documented a suspicious circumstance involving a possible scam. Caller was not out any money and did not give out any vulnerable information.

Dog Complaint, 10:05 a.m., Oupor Drive, Scio. Dog owner warned for dog at large and dog as a public nuisance.

Traffic Stop, 10:44 a.m., SE Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for speed.

Extra Patrol, 10:52 a.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Deputies patrol an abandoned property.

Traffic Stop, 11:38 a.m., SE Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for speed.

Trespass, 11:42 a.m., NW Clayton Place, Scio. Male, 35, of Scio arrested for Criminal Trespass II. He was lodged at Linn County Jail.

Disturbance, 2:35 p.m., SW Linn Place, Mill City. Caller was the instigator in a verbal dispute. The only slight injury incurred was self-inflicted by the caller. No crime.

Dec. 28

Motorist Assist, 9:15 a.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Deputy assisted motorist information exchange.

Suspicious Person, 9:30 a.m., NW Alder Street, Mill City. Neighbor dispute. Nothing criminal.

Welfare Check, 10:47 a.m., Richardson Gap Road, Scio. Deputies check on welfare of a male with out-of-area family.

Welfare Check, 1:23 p.m., 14th Street, Lyons. Deputies confirmed the welfare of juveniles.

Suspicious Person, 4:50 p.m., NE Cherry Street, Mill City. Caller reported a female trespassing near properties in the area. Deputies located an unrelated female in the area eating Cheetos.

Theft, 6:03 p.m., Main Street, Lyons. Deputies took a report of a theft.

Welfare Check, 7 p.m., Bilyeu Creek Road, Scio. Deputies attempted to conduct a welfare check but were unable due to a locked gate.

Extra Patrol, 3:33 a.m., NW Clayton Place, Scio. Extra patrol at a vacant residence. Everything was secure.

Suspicious Vehicle, 3:44 a.m., NE First Avenue, Scio.

Accident, 7:15 a.m., Shelburn Drive/West Scio Road, Scio. Single-vehicle rollover crash. Both occupants were OK.

Traffic Stop, 9:44 a.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for speed.

Animal Complaint, 9:55 a.m., Crabtree Drive, Scio. Deputy attempted to contact a caller on reported animal abuse but was unsuccessful.

Assist Other Agency, 10:08 a.m., Fish Hatchery Drive, Scio. Deputy checked a residence for individuals for another agency.

Phone Harassment, 10:45 a.m., Gilkey Road, Scio. Deputy spoke to caller regarding telephonic harassment.

Motorist Assist, 12:25 p.m., Main Street, Lyons. Deputy assisted in information exchange.

Domestic Disturbance, 12:25 p.m., Main Street, Lyons. Deputy responded to a domestic disturbance. Non-criminal.

Dec. 30

Suspicious Vehicle, 7:07 a.m., Fifth Street, Lyons. Citizen walking the river in the early morning hours.

Suspicious Circumstance, 8:23 a.m., Camp Morrison Drive, Scio. Patient was educated on the potential ramifications of using physical force against another person instead of calmly talking to the other person.

Assist Other Agency, 8:38 a.m., Dogwood Street, Lyons. Assisted Salem PD with an investigation.

Suspicious Vehicle, 4:48 p.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Unoccupied vehicle.

Traffic Stop, 5:18 p.m., Gates School Road, Gates. Driver warned for equipment violation.

Welfare Check, 5:59 p.m., Rodgers Mountain Loop, Scio. Deputy conducted a welfare check on a male resident who needed no assistance.

Assault, 11:01 p.m., Camp Morrison Drive, Scio. Juvenile attending a party in the woods was injured in a physical attack. Ongoing investigation.

Dec. 31

Suspicious Circumstance, 9:01 a.m., Lulay Road, Scio. Deputies documented an incident at the caller’s request.

Suspicious Circumstance, 9:45 a.m., Main Street, Lyons. Deputies documented a suspicious circumstance.

Dog Complaint, 11:23 a.m., SE Ivy Street, Mill City. At neighbor’s request deputies spoke to a dog owner about their dog running at large and killing a neighbor’s chickens. The owner of the dog seemed receptive to the conversation.

Suspicious Vehicle, 11:37 a.m., Hungry Hill and Crabtree drives, Scio. Deputy responded to a report of a vehicle parked too close to the railroad crossing. Railroad was advised of the vehicle.

Trespass, 11:55 a.m., Goar Road, Scio. Male, 49, of Portland was arrested for Criminal Trespass II and transported to the Linn County Jail after being found on private property.

Suspicious Circumstance, 12:58 p.m., Slangal Drive, Scio. Vehicle left roadside. Deputy checked on vehicle later and it had been retrieved.

Suspicious Vehicle, 3:58 p.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Deputies spoke with a male in a red vehicle at Kimmel Park. Deputies were unable to see anything in the vehicle relating to drugs or alcohol. A nearby group of juveniles were warned about the male’s sex offender status.

Suspicious Person, 6 p.m., Rodgers Mountain Loop, Scio. Deputy was unable to locate.

Jan. 1

Firework Complaint, 12:46 a.m., Main Street, Lyons. Caller reported a firework complaint.

Traffic Stop, 8:47 a.m., SE Kingwood and SE Third avenues, Mill City. Driver cited for 45 MPH in 25 MPH zone.

Extra Patrol, 9:04 a.m., SE Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Traffic enforcement. Two individuals cited for speeding. No warnings issues.

Traffic Stop, 9:18 a.m., SE Kingwood and SE Fifth avenues, Mill City. Driver cited for 41 MPH in 25 MPH zone.

Suspicious Vehicle, 8:01 p.m., Stayton-Scio Loop, Scio. Assisted a disabled motorist.

Traffic Stop, 8:10 a.m., SE Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for speed.

Traffic Stop, 9:28 a.m., SW Broadway Street, Mill City. Driver warned for operating with off-road lights on.

Sex Offense, 11:01 a.m., Highway 226, Scio. Ongoing investigation.

Theft, 11:05 a.m., Cole School Road, Scio. Victim’s employee took several Dewalt tools, two ladders and a full, 5-gallon, yellow plastic can of diesel from the business last week without permission. Total loss more than $2,000.

Theft, 12:11 p.m., Jefferson-Scio Drive, Scio. A $3,000 vehicle and about $2,250 in tools were stolen from a business.

Civil Dispute, 1:01 p.m., Rodgers Mountain Loop, Scio. No crimes committed.

Animal Complaint, 2:10 p.m., Dogwood Street, Lyons. Caller spoke to horse owner by phone and announced her concern for the lone horse on the property. Caller and her niece have a disagreement on how to care for the horse. Deputy forwarded caller’s concern to Animal Control for a follow-up.

Welfare Check, 7:50 p.m., N Main Street, Scio. Everyone is OK.

Traffic Stop, 8:37 p.m., Richardson Gap Road, Scio. Driver warned for speed.

Motorist Assist, 9 p.m., Fish Hatchery Drive, Scio. Vehicle had a mechanical failure on the hill and rolled into a ditch.

Suspicious Vehicle, 10:14 p.m., Fish Hatchery Drive, Scio. Operators were trying to get a vehicle out of the ditch.

Motorist Assist, 6:36 a.m., Highway 226, Scio. Motorist blew a tire on the side of the road.
