In Memoriam: Sharlene Larimer (Feb. 1, 1949 – Oct. 12, 2022)

Sharlene Louise Larimer, 73, died Oct. 12, 2022. She was born Feb. 1, 1949 to Burnett and Audrey. She grew up in the Lyons-Mill City area, and attended Stayton High School, where she was a member of the dance team. When sharing stories from her youth, Sharlene would proudly refer to herself as “one of the Canyon Girls.”

Sharlene married Larry Larimer on May 10, 1969, and together they raised two children. She held jobs for the Forest Service, managed a small bank in Mill City and retired from the Santiam Canyon School District as the administrative assistant to the superintendent.

Sharlene’s hobbies included gardening, sewing, quilting, canning, baking, reading and garage sales. Her love of garage sales eventually turned into a small antique business.

Upon retirement Sharlene and Larry enjoyed frequent visits to their house on the Oregon Coast, Larry walking the dog and Sharlene collecting shells and beach glass. This was truly her happy place and she always enjoyed sharing it with her family and friends.

Sharlene had an immense love for family, especially her grandchildren, they were the light of her life.  She never missed an opportunity to spend time with them or support them at one of their activities.  She was an incredible role model, a kind and humble woman, always putting others before herself.

Sharlene was preceded in death by her parents, Burnett Cole and Audrey Price; and brothers, Brent Cole and Michael Cole.

Sharlene is survived by her husband, Larry Larimer of Stayton; son, Chuck (Elona) Larimer of Stayton; daughter Mandi (Arin) Atiyeh of Lyons; and grandchildren, Cole Atiyeh, Gavin Larimer, Olivia Atiyeh, Aiden Larimer and Laina Atiyeh.

A celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 22 at Foothills Church in Stayton
