Sept. 12

Animal Complaint, 9:19 a.m., Fifth Street, Lyons. Deputy dispatched a deer that was badly injured.

Fraud, 9:25 p.m., Crabtree Drive, Scio. Caller reported someone used his information to put electricity to a residence in Houston, Texas, in December 2021, and caller was sent to collections.

Accident, 11:28 a.m., Main Street, Lyons. Report of a non-injury crash. All parties were gone upon deputies’ arrival.

Criminal Mischief, 12:10 p.m., Highway 226, Scio. Caller reported his gate posts were cut down with a chainsaw. Around $600 damage.

Civil Dispute, 1:17 p.m., Rodgers Mountain Loop, Scio. Ongoing civil dispute between two property owners disagreeing on who can use the road to their residences and taking a gate off fence posts. Deputy suggested both parties speak with civil attorneys.

Traffic Complaint, 2:31 p.m., Richardson Gap Road/Fish Hatchery Drive, Scio. Deputy responded to a potential DUI driver call. Deputy located and contacted operator of suspected vehicle. After speaking with the driver, the deputy had no concerns that the driver was impaired.

Traffic Stop, 3:12 p.m., N Main Street/NE First Avenue, Scio. Driver warned for expired registration.

Extra Patrol, 3:25 p.m., SE Fourth Avenue, Scio. Deputy observed traffic for speeding and other violations.

Shots Heard, 4:41 p.m., SE Cedar Avenue, Idanha. Report of shots heard.

Trespass, 7:58 p.m., Larwood Drive, Scio. Female, 34, of Scio was arrested for attempted escape in the second degree and resisting arrest, and three additional warrants. She was transported to Linn County Jail and lodged.

Sept. 13

Suspicious Person, 8:29 a.m., NW Fourth Avenue, Scio. Male was “obviously strung out on drugs.” He was not able to stand without assistance. He was given a ride home.

Dog Complaint, 9:24 a.m., Bull Drive, Lyons. Dog owner cited for dog as a public nuisance.

Accident, 11:58 a.m., SW Third Avenue/SW Broadway Street, Mill City. Vehicle high-centered on curb. Vehicle was removed by and driven away.

Traffic Stop, 2:30 p.m., Highway 226/SE Fourth Avenue, Scio. Driver warned for expired tags.

Traffic Stop, 2:43 p.m., SE Fourth Avenue/Ash Street, Scio. Driver cited for failure to register vehicle.

Animal Complaint, 3:42 p.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Caller had questions about clearing cats from under his house.

Event Detail, 6 p.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Deputy attended Mill City City Council meeting.

Sept. 14

Noise Disturbance, 12:02 a.m., McCully Mountain Road, Lyons. False police alarm.

Suspicious Person, 7:31 a.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Male was seen on the open lot near caller’s residence. Male’s alibi checked out.

Dog Complaint, 9:19 a.m., SW Cedar Street/SW Fourth Avenue, Mill City. Dog keeper cited for dog at large.

Animal Complaint, 9:51 a.m., Robinson Drive, Scio. Deputy contacted dog owner to make sure the dogs on the property have someone caring for them. All is well at this time.

Suspicious Circumstance, 10:28 a.m., NE Fourth Avenue, Mill City. Container contained someone’s small, white-colored pet.

Suspicious Person, 10:31 a.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Deputies documented an incident at City Hall per officials request.

Suspicious Circumstance, 11:05 a.m., Fifth Street, Lyons. Porta Potty vandalized. Video surveillance captured the suspect vehicle. Information was forwarded to all patrol deputies in an attempt to locate and ID.

Dog Complaint, 11:40 a.m., SW Broadway Street, Mill City. Dog owner cited for dog as a public nuisance.

Suspicious Vehicle, 3:09 p.m., 13th Street, Lyons. Deputies spoke with the owner of a suspicious vehicle seen by employees of City Hall.

Traffic Stop, 4:20 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive/Mowitch Street, Lyons. Driver cited for 72 MPH in 55 MPH zone, driving while suspended, no proof of insurance and failure to register vehicle.

Suspicious Circumstance, 11:40 p.m., Jordan Road, Scio. Deputies responded to a business to make sure a male and female were OK. No crimes.

Sept. 15

Prowler, 2:57 a.m., Hungry Hill Drive, Scio. Deputies checked the area for prowler. No signs of criminal activity.

Extra Patrol, 9:32 a.m., SW Cedar Street, Mill City. Deputies greeted students and attended board meeting.

Traffic Stop, 10:18 a.m., SE Kingwood and SE Third avenues, Mill City. Driver cited for cell phone use.

Traffic Stop, 11:08 a.m., SE Third Avenue, Mill City. Driver cited for expired tags.

Assault, 11:39 a.m., Fish Hatchery Drive/Meritt Road, Scio. Motorist did not like sharing the road with bicyclists that resulted in a verbal confrontation and the motorist shoving a rider. No one was injured and the rider did not wish to pursue any charges. The motorist was not identified and was unable to be located by the responding deputies.

Extra Patrol, 2:29 p.m., SW Evergreen Street, Mill City. Deputies conducted an extra patrol at Santiam Elementary.

Suspicious Vehicle, 2:52 p.m., Fish Hatchery Drive/Meridian Road, Scio. Vehicle was not involved in the crash. Vehicle left its address in that condition.

Violation of Order, 5:21 p.m., Larwood Drive, Scio. Deputies checked area per caller’s request.

Sept. 16

Assist Other Agency, 12:20 a.m., SW Parkside Drive, Mill City. Assisted another agency with attempting to contact owners of a suspicious vehicle.

Hit and Run, 8:34 a.m., Larwood Drive, Scio. Deputies investigated a hit and run that occurred on Sept. 15. Deputies learned who the registered owner of the vehicle was through evidence left behind at the scene.

Abandoned vehicle, 1:14 p.m., NE Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Business owner reported a suspicious vehicle left in the parking lot. Deputy called to get more information from the business owner and they advised the vehicle left.

Theft, 3:57 p.m., Main Street, Lyons. Theft from a vehicle.

Lost Dog, 6:40 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Citizen reported a lost dog. Information was printed and put in the lieutenant’s office.

Accident, 6:46 p.m., Jefferson-Scio Drive, Scio. Non-injury motor vehicle crash.

Traffic Stop, 10:17 p.m., Highway 226, Scio. Driver warned for failure to maintain lane.

Sept. 17

Burglary, 2:32 p.m., SE Grove Street, Mill City.

Suspicious Circumstance, 3:39 p.m., Fairview Street, Mill City. Caller contacted the sheriff’s office after finding arrows in his pasture. It is unknown where the arrows came from or who shot them.

Forest Timber Patrol, 5:35 p.m., Camp Morrison Drive, Scio. Patrolled BLM property. Two camps with fires were located and extinguished.

Intoxicated Subject, 10:06 p.m., Camp Morrison Drive/Lulay Road, Scio. Report of a party.

Criminal Mischief, 11:03 p.m., NW Second Avenue, Scio. Male, 35, of Scio was arrested for Criminal Mischief II and other warrants.

Sept. 18

Disturbance, 12:50 a.m., SE Second Avenue, Scio. Male yelling on the side of the road.

Suspicious Vehicle, 3:19 a.m., SW Tuers Lane, Mill City. Suspicious vehicle was gone upon deputies’ arrival.

Accident, 1:15 p.m., Camp Morrison Drive, Scio. Truck off the road. No damage was seen and no one was around. Deputy returned hours later and the truck was gone.

Harassment, 1:30 p.m., Gray Pine Street, Lyons. Caller reported an online argument over women’s rights. The caller’s minor daughter engaged in a group chat with strangers on the daughter’s cell phone through Snapchat and Quick Add. The caller saw both texts and video on her daughter’s phone, which was concerning to the caller. Report taken.

Shots Heard, 2:33 p.m., N McCully Mountain Road, Lyons. Citizen reported someone shooting in the county, concerned it was a fire hazard.

Dog Complaint, 2:38 p.m., Hungry Hill Drive, Scio. Caller reported his neighbor’s dog running at large.

Extra Patrol, 5:53 p.m., Main Street, Lyons. Citizen reported speeders and requested extra patrol.

Domestic Disturbance, 6:40 p.m., Stayton-Scio Loop, Scio. Male, 38, of Scio was arrested for contempt of court.

Traffic Stop, 10:59 p.m., Richardson Gap Road/Highway 226, Scio. Driver warned for moving violation.

Sept. 19

Dog Complaint, 7:23 a.m., SW Douglas Street, Mill City. Dog owners issued citation for dog violations.

Suspicious Circumstance, 7:32 a.m., NW Clayton Place, Scio. Deputies responded to an issue of a male acting erratically. No crimes observed; landlord/tenant civil issue.

Criminal Mischief, 8:08 a.m., Fifth Street, Lyons. Deputies investigate criminal mischief at a local school.

Suspicious Circumstance, 10:44 a.m., S First Avenue/SE Hazel Street, Mill City. Deputies investigated a suspicious vehicle on a vacant lot.
