Sept. 6

Extra Patrol, 7:32 a.m., SW Evergreen Street, Mill City. Deputy performed traffic operations to ensure the safety of children coming to school on the first day.

Extra Patrol, 8:25 a.m., 18th Street, Lyons. Deputies conducted an extra patrol of the abandoned mill. 

Extra Patrol, 8:52 a.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Deputies conducted an extra patrol of an abandoned property.

Extra Patrol, 9:08 a.m., SW Cedar Street, Mill City. Deputies did a walk through of Santiam Jr./Sr. High and spoke with teachers and students.

Traffic Stop, 11:31 a.m., Highway 22, Mill City. Driver warned for violation of the basic rule.

Extra Patrol, 12:47 p.m., SW Spring Street, Mill City. Deputies conducted patrol of an abandoned building.

Park Patrol, 1:09 p.m., Neal Park Road, Lyons. Deputies conduct a park patrol at John Neal Park.

Assist Other Agency, 3:17 p.m., Mehama-Lyons Highway, Lyons. Deputy happened upon a crash on Highway 22. OSP was notified. Deputy remained until OSP arrived on scene. No injuries were noted.

Accident, 5:08 p.m., Montgomery Drive, Scio. Deputy responded to a non-injury, single-vehicle crash.

Dog Complaint, 9:30 p.m., Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Deputies responded to a barking dog complaint.

Extra Patrol, 11:25 p.m., Blowout Road, Idanha. Focused crime prevention patrols.

Sept. 7

Traffic Stop, 12:47 a.m., Fern Ridge Road, Sweet Home. Male, 42, of Scio was cited and released on several outstanding warrants as well as driving while suspended violation.

Accident, 7:59 a.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Two-vehicle crash. Driver #2 cited for following too close.

Sept. 8

Accident, 7:45 a.m., Stayton-Scio Loop/Stayton-Scio Road, Scio. Vehicle drove off roadway. Everyone was OK.

Dog Complaint, 9:08 a.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Dog owner cited for dog as a public nuisance.

Extra Patrol, 2:26 p.m., Fifth Street, Lyons. Monitored school zone traffic during the release of school. Everyone was obeying the speed limit.

Suspicious Circumstance, 5:12 p.m., Cole View Drive, Scio. Caller was locked out of her phone and asked if deputies would be able to unlock it for her. Caller was advised to take the phone to the carrier store.

Extra Patrol, 8:13 p.m., SW Evergreen Street, Mill City. Extra patrol at the Mill City High football game.

Traffic Stop, 9:07 p.m., Trask Road/Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Driver cited for 85 MPH in 55 MPH zone and failure to register vehicle.

Warrant, 10:19 p.m., Monument Peak and Gates School roads, Gates. Male, 23, of Salem was arrested for multiple failure to appear warrants out of separate counties.

Sept. 9

Disturbance, 1:35 a.m., Monument Peak and Gates School roads, Gates. People were upset about transients in the area.

Traffic Stop, 9:26 a.m., Fifth Street, Lyons. Driver cited for 48 MPH in 35 MPH zone.

Civil Dispute, 1:13 p.m., Ridge Drive, Scio. Female had questions about evicting people and other civil matters following her father’s passing.

Suspicious Vehicle, 2:49 p.m., Cedar Mill Road, Lyons. Deputies found a vehicle near the abandoned mill. Deputies identified the owner, who was picking blackberries.

Extra Patrol, 2:51 p.m., Schindler Bridge Drive, Scio. Extra patrol for fire safety.

Extra Patrol, 2:03 p.m., Camp Morrison Drive, Scio. Extra patrol for fire safety.

Welfare Check, 3:05 p.m., SW Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Deputies were unable to conduct a welfare check but learned they may be out of town due to power outage. 

Extra Patrol, 4 p.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Deputies conducted extra patrol of an abandoned property.

Juvenile Complaint, 5:17 p.m., SE Kingwood and SE Second avenues, Mill City. Caller complained of juvenile behavior but did not provide any contact information for deputies to investigate. 

Traffic Stop, 5:25 p.m., Miller Cemetery Road, Scio. Driver cited for 59 MPH in 40 MPH zone.

Traffic Stop, 7:24 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Driver cited for 58 MPH in 40 MPH zone.

Extra Patrol, 8:04 p.m., Blowout Road, Idanha. Extra fire patrol in the area.

Traffic Stop, 8:21 p.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Driver cited for 40 MPH in 25 MPH zone and warned for expired registration.

Suspicious Circumstance, 8:24 p.m., SE Mt. Jefferson Street, Idanha. Deputies investigated possible fire danger involving chainsaws and dirt bikes.

Assist Other Agency, 8:39 p.m., NE Fifth Avenue, Mill City. Burn complaint. Deputies and Mill City Fire checked area and were unable to locate.

Noise Disturbance, 9:59 p.m., SE Hazel Street, Mill City. Loud music after 10 p.m. Deputy contacted subjects who had already turned it off.

Traffic Stop, 10:01 p.m., SW Fourth and SW Kingwood avenues, Mill City. Driver warned for expired tags.

Prowler, 11:06 p.m., SW Spring Street, Mill City. Deputies conducted extra patrol in Mill City.

Assist Other Agency, 11:45 p.m., N McCully Mountain Road, Lyons. Deputies assisted fire personnel.

Sept. 10

Extra Patrol, 3:15 a.m., NE Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Focused crime prevention night patrols in Mill City.

Traffic Stop, 10:06 a.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Mill City. Driver cited for driving while suspended.

Extra Patrol, 10:28 a.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Deputies conducted an extra patrol of an abandoned property.

Civil Dispute, 10:47 a.m., N Main Street, Scio. Caller had questions regarding insurance matters involving an unreported crash.

Extra Patrol, 11:26 a.m., SW Parkside Drive, Mill City. Deputies checked an abandoned residence. 

Extra Patrol, 12:14 p.m., SE Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Deputies conducted traffic enforcement. No egregious violations observed.

Suspicious Circumstance, 4:29 p.m., NE Alder Street, Mill City. Deputies were unable to locate “suspicious” people seen drinking beer and smoking cigarettes.

Trespass, 4:57 p.m., Thomas Creek Drive, Scio. Deputies located what they believed to be a trespasser said to be hunting on private lands only to learn the person was hunting on public lands.

Traffic Stop, 7:06 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Driver warned for failure to obey a traffic control device.

Extra Patrol, 8:27 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Deputies searched for a wanted subject.

Forest Timber Patrol, 9:22 p.m., Fish Hatchery Drive, Scio. Patrolled Weyerhaeuser Roaring River mainline gate. Gate was secured.

Forest Timber Patrol, 9:30 p.m., Tree Farm Road, Scio. Patrolled Weyerhaeuser Tree Farm mainline gate. Gate was secured.

Park Patrol, 9:41 p.m., Fish Hatchery Drive, Scio. Patrolled Roaring River and Larwood parks. Found a couple parked at Larwood. Deputies explained the park closed at dusk and asked the couple to leave.

Traffic Complaint, 11:11 p.m., Sandner Drive, Scio. Deputies counseled young drivers on the repercussions of speeding.

Sept. 11

Noise Disturbance, 12:31 a.m., Bull Drive, Lyons. Deputies responded to noise complaint with no noise present.

Traffic Hazard, 2:16 a.m., Highway 226, Lyons. Deputies cleared a fallen tree in the road.

Criminal Mischief, 9:29 p.m., NW First Avenue, Scio. Deputies responded to juveniles damaging cars.

Suspicious Person, 10:23 p.m., Highway 226/Gilkey Road, Scio. Deputies responded to check area for a person standing in the middle of the road.
