A strong area of low pressure will bring an increased chance for strong easterly winds with critically dry conditions to the Canyon Friday night in to Saturday.
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag warning in effect from 11 a.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Saturday for wind and low relative humidity for fire weather in the North Cascade Foothills, Central Oregon Foothills, Mt. Hood National Forest west of Cascade Crest, Willamette National Forest and extreme South Washington Cascade and Foothills.
East winds of 15 to 25 miles per hour with gusts of up to 40 miles per hour are expected.
Isolated gusts to 50 mph are possible along terrain above 5,000 feet. Humidity is expected to be as low as 16 percent.
These conditions may be favorable for rapid fire spread, which may threaten life and property. Property owners are asked to use extra caution with potential ignition sources, especially in grassy areas. Outdoor burning is banned.
