Aug. 30

Motorist Assist, 1:22 a.m., Highway 226/Freeman Road, Scio. Motorist with a flat tire.

Traffic Stop, 4:59 a.m., NE First Avenue/N Main Street, Scio. Driver warned for failure to obey traffic control device.

Suspicious Person, 7:32 a.m., Fifth Street, Lyons. Caller reported a male in the porta potty for a long time. Male was okay and was warned to move along after he was done.

Fraud, 11:18 a.m., Gates School Road, Gates. Report of fraud at a local business. Ongoing investigation.

Trespass, 6:58 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Deputies responded to a cold trespass. Owner just wanted it documented.

Traffic Stop, 8:48 p.m., Rio Vista Lane/Lyons-Mill City Drive, Mill City. Driver warned for having an unreadable license plate.

Aug. 31

Extra Patrol, 7:08 a.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Deputies conducted an extra patrol of an abandoned property.

Fraud, 10:10 a.m., Eighth Street, Lyons. Caller wanted a fraud incident documented and extra patrols in the area.

Identity Theft, 11:41 a.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Caller wanted false rumors about him documented.

Hit and Run, 2:34 p.m., Fifth Street, Lyons. Deputies took a report of a hit and run involving a mailbox.

Disturbance, 4:03 p.m., NE Fourth Avenue, Mill City. Male, 18, of Aumsville was arrested for criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, menacing, unlawful use of a weapon, assault on a peace officer and resisting arrest. He was lodged at Linn County Jail.

Extra Patrol, 7:26 p.m., Shimanek Bridge Drive, Scio. Deputy checked equipment and jobsite. Found two young girls south of the jobsite trying to catch their black-colored cat. Cat was located and captured. It is now back inside the residence.

Found Property, 8:19 p.m., SW Broadway Street, Mill City. Red and black Jansport backpack found.

Suspicious Vehicle, 10:24 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Deputy discovered a suspicious vehicle outside of Plant 3. Plant personnel were notified.

Sept. 1

Prowler, 12:15 a.m., Jordan Road, Scio. Deputies investigated possible trespassers.

Traffic Stop, 7:08 a.m., Highway 226, Scio. Driver warned for unsecured load.

Traffic Stop, 7:51 a.m., NW Beech Street/NW Fourth Avenue, Scio. Driver cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.

Extra Patrol, 8:51 a.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Extra patrol of an abandoned property.

Recovered Property, 10:13 a.m., NE Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Backpack returned to its rightful owner.

Park Patrol, 10:14 a.m., Neal Park Road, Lyons. Deputies conducted a park patrol at John Neal Park.

Theft, 2:10 p.m., Camp Morrison Drive, Scio. Theft of a $160 trail camera on Snowpeak.

Extra Patrol, 4:08 p.m., SW Parkside Drive, Mill City. Deputies checked on an abandoned residence. 

Harassment, 6:50 p.m., Rock Creek Road/Kingwood Avenue, Gates. Extra patrol in campground.

Suspicious Circumstance, 9:35 p.m., Monument Peak and Gates School roads, Gates. Deputy arrived and found Marion County had covered the call. No further action needed.

Trespass, 9:39 p.m., Jordan Road, Scio. Vehicle parked in No Parking zone near river.

Fireworks Complaint, 9:42 p.m., NW Beech Street, Scio. Deputy responded to a Firework Complaint. No fireworks or evidence of fireworks was discovered.

Shots Heard, 10:01 p.m., Xmas Tree Road, Gates. Deputies searched an area of woods for a report of shots heard.

Noise Disturbance, 10:33 p.m., NE First Avenue, Scio. Deputies searched for people playing loud music near the park. They were gone on arrival.

Sept. 2

Welfare Check, 1 a.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Deputies attempted to locate a male left in the Mill City area.

Theft, 8:31 a.m., Hungry Hill Drive, Scio. Caller reported one of his license plates was stolen from his vehicle.

Dog Complaint, 10:21 a.m., Myers Place, Scio. Stray dog was returned to owner.

Theft, 1:49 p.m., NW First Avenue, Scio. Caller reported having two wheels and tires stolen off his vehicle during the night. Value $1,100.

Trespass, 1:56 p.m., Rock Creek Road/Pebble Drive, Gates. Female, 44, was issued a criminal citation for Criminal Trespass II on ODF land. After a written exclusion and multiple verbal warnings she continued to come on the land. She removed her camp and garbage while deputy waited.

Extra Patrol, 2:03 p.m., Main Street, Lyons. Caller requested extra patrol for people speeding.

Lost Property, 2:58 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Male reported items missing from his residence.

Theft, 5:17 p.m., NW Alder Street, Mill City. Deputy assisted a civilian in an issue which is occurring in Salem because Salem PD would not assist the individual.

Forest Timber Patrol, 6:21 p.m., Blowout Road, Idanha. Patrolled the cabin loops and spoke to owners who were out. No issues reported.

Theft, 6:45 p.m., Fish Hatchery Drive, Scio. Deputies investigated a theft.

Traffic Stop, 9:06 p.m., Highway 226, Lyons. Driver warned for failure to maintain lane.

Suspicious Vehicle, 9:37 p.m., N Main Street, Scio. Deputies investigated a suspicious vehicle.

Sept. 3

Traffic Stop, 2:48 a.m., N Main Street, Scio. Driver warned for failure to obey traffic control device.

Shots Heard, 2:55 p.m., Fish Hatchery Drive, Scio. Caller reported concerns his neighbor was shooting in an unsafe manner. Deputy responded and inspected the shooting area and had no concerns. No enforcement action taken.

Traffic Stop, 7:10 p.m., Fish Hatchery Drive/Highway 226, Scio. Driver cited for driving uninsured.

Extra Patrol, 9:34 p.m., Camp Morrison Drive, Scio. Bilyeu Den County Park didn’t have any occupants after dusk.

Traffic Stop, 11:15 p.m., NE Third Avenue/N Main Street, Scio. Driver warned for speeding.

Sept. 4

Traffic Stop, 3:06 a.m., NW Second Avenue/N Main Street, Scio. Driver cited for 46 MPH in 30 MPH speed zone.

Traffic Stop, 3:35 a.m., NW Third Avenue/N Main Street, Scio. Driver cited for 46 MPH in 30 MPH speed zone.

Traffic Stop, 3:46 a.m., NE First Avenue/N Main Street, Scio. Driver cited for 45 MPH in 30 MPH zone.

Violation of Order, 8:27 a.m., Linnwood Drive, Gates. Deputies investigated a possible restraining order violation. No violation at the time.

Stolen Vehicle, 9:28 a.m., Fifth Street, Lyons. Deputies took a report of a stolen vehicle.

Sex Offense, 1:07 p.m., SE Fourth Avenue, Scio. Sex offense between two juveniles. Under investigation.

Domestic Disturbance, 4 p.m., Fish Hatchery Drive, Scio. Male threatened his girlfriend with a knife. As she drove away from the area, the male crawled on top of the vehicle and caused more than $1,000 in damage. Female eventually pulled over and the male smashed the window before leaving on foot. Ongoing investigation.

Traffic Complaint, 5:07 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Vehicle left in unknown direction. No deputies were in the area and no license plate provided to follow up with.

Suspicious Vehicle, 7:09 p.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Individual didn’t recognize family member’s car parked in front of their residence.

Extra Patrol, 8:28 p.m., Fish Hatchery Drive, Scio. All is calm.

Found Property, 10:32 p.m., Fifth Street, Lyons. Lyons resident had a cat get stuck in a fox trap. Unknown where the trap came from. Unknown intentions of the trap.

Sept. 5

Prowler, 4:24 a.m., Highway 226, Scio. Caller reported suspicious persons pulling into his drive late at night and possibly using his garden hose.

Park Patrol, 8 a.m., Neal Park Road, Lyons. Patrolled John Neal Park. All seemed in good order.

Extra Patrol, 8:25 a.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Conducted an extra patrol of an abandoned property.

Assist Other Agency, 10:08 a.m., SW Broadway Street, Mill City. Deputies escorted medics to Salem Hospital with an uncooperative patient.

Stolen Vehicle, 6:26 p.m., Cole School Road, Stayton. A black Cadillac CTS was stolen from the owner’s driveway between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Ongoing investigation.

Person Assist, 8:02 p.m., Cedar Mill Road, Lyons. Deputies assist trapped individual in the woods.

Sept. 6

Suspicious Person, 1:59 a.m., NW Alder Street, Mill City. Deputies responded to a noise disturbance and no signs of a noise or disturbance was found.

Suspicious Vehicle, 2:47 a.m., Fish Hatchery Drive, Scio. Deputies responded to a parking complaint. Individual was lawfully parked.
