Linn County Sheriff’s Office Log: Aug. 23 – 29

Aug. 23

Warrant, 9:58 a.m., Weldwood Drive, Lebanon. Male, 45, of Scio was cited in lieu of custody for his warrants.

Theft, 10:02 a.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Caller reported people are dumping trash in their dumpster. Deputies identified the culprits and will speak to the individuals.

Criminal Mischief, 11:41 a.m., SW First Avenue, Mill City. Victim did not wish to pursue charges for damages caused to drywall after the door was slammed open.

Theft, 1:26 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Theft of bandaids from the Dollar General. Deputies identified the subject but were unable to locate as the subject was a transient.

Violation of Order, 4:25 p.m., NW Sunset Court, Mill City. Deputies took a report on a violation of a no-contact release agreement.

Sex Offense, 6:46 p.m., SW Ivy Street, Mill City. Deputies investigate a case involving juvenile and online dating application.

Aug. 24

Traffic Stop, 9:29 a.m., 25th Street/Ash Lane, Lyons. Driver warned for equipment violation.

Dog Complaint, 10:32 a.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Dog owner received verbal warning for dog as a public nuisance and failure to license dog.

WArrant, 10:54 a.m., SW Hall Avenue, Mill City. Male, 28, of Mill City was cited in lieu of custody for his warrants.

Traffic Stop, 11:30 a.m., SW Linn Blvd./SW Eighth Avenue, Mill City. Driver cited for driving while suspended.

Traffic Stop, 11:48 a.m., SW Linn Blvd., Mill City. Driver warned for equipment violation.

Dog Complaint, 12:04 p.m., SW Alder Street, Scio. Dog owner issued citation for failure to purchase a dog license. She was warned about dog as a public nuisance for barking and the need for better shelter for her dog.

Traffic Stop, 12:20 p.m., SW Ivy Street/SW Hall Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for equipment violation.

Traffic Stop, 1:24 p.m., SW Broadway Street, Mill City. Driver cited for driving uninsured and driving while suspended violation.

Traffic Stop, 2 p.m., SW Fourth Avenue/SW Cedar Street, Mill City. Driver warned for equipment violation.

Fraud, 2:13 p.m., SW Third Avenue, Mill City. Caller wanted to speak to a deputy about a hacked computer.

Animal Complaint, 2:59 p.m., SE Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Cat complaint.

Traffic Stop, 3:34 p.m., SW Broadway Street, Mill City. Driver warned for equipment violation.

Traffic Stop, 3:38 p.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Driver cited for driving uninsured and driving while suspended violation.

Traffic Stop, 3:53 p.m., SE Ivy Street, Mill City. Driver warned for equipment violation.

Traffic Stop, 3:57 p.m., S First and SE Ivy streets, Mill City. Driver cited for driving uninsured.

Fraud, 4:03 p.m., Hickory Court, Lyons. Caller reported she was sent money from a hacked Facebook account.

Traffic Stop, 4:29 p.m., SW Linn Blvd., Mill City. Male, 42, of Mill City arrested and transported to Linn County Jail for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, felon in possession of a firearm, theft I and driving while suspended felony. He was also arrested for outstanding warrants. He was cited for switched plates.

Aug. 25

Assault, 12:28 a.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Deputies responded to the report of a man being assaulted. 

Noise Disturbance, 8:19 a.m., Highway 226, Scio. Caller reported a stereo playing loud music.

Menacing, 10:07 a.m., Camp Morrison Drive, Scio. Caller reported he and a coworker were responding to a job site and accidentally went to the wrong property. The property owner confronted the workers with a gun. Reports were sent to the District Attorney for charging consideration.

Suspicious Vehicle, 2 p.m., SE Cedar Street, Scio. Deputy responded to a suspicious vehicle. It was determined the vehicle was a teenage girl and her friend going to visit a boy. No crime.

911 Hang Up, 2:03 p.m., Third Street, Scio. Juvenile called 911 during a family dispute.

Warrant, 8:24 p.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Male, 26, of Mill City was arrested on warrants for burglary II, theft II and failure to appear x 3.

Aug. 26

Recovered Stolen Vehicle, 9:49 a.m., SE Second Avenue, Mill City. Stolen vehicle recovered for the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies collected DNA evidence.

Neighborhood Dispute, 10:11 a.m., SE Second Avenue, Mill City. Caller believes her neighbor took her cats. Deputies were unable to speak to the neighbor to verify.

Traffic Stop, 12:47 p.m., Highway 22, Lyons. Driver warned for speed.

Elude, 5:01 p.m., Neal Park Road, Lyons. Deputies attempted to pull over a vehicle believed to be conducting nefarious activities, as well as being involved in another elude. Due to the current Linn County Sheriff’s Office pursuit policy, the vehicle and suspects got away.

Violation of Order, 6:41 p.m., NW Sunset Court, Mill City. Deputies investigated possible violation of order.

Trespass, 8:06 p.m., Highway 22, Idanha. Male was looking for a good hunting area when he got locked behind a Weyerhaeuser gate. The only signs on the gate couldn’t be seen when it was open. He was warned for trespassing.

Parking Complaint, 8:07 p.m., Dogwood and 13th streets, Lyons. Deputies dealt with a noise complaint involving a truck.

Noise Disturbance, 9:08 p.m., Dogwood Street, Lyons. Deputies responded to a noise disturbance. No loud noise was heard.

Aug. 27

Extra Patrol, 7:56 a.m., 18th Street, Lyons. Deputies conducted extra patrol of the abandoned mill. All gates were secure and no one was around.

Theft from Vehicle, 1:06 p.m., Highway 226, Scio. Theft of salmon fishing pole, tackle and vehicle battery from vehicle. Total value $1,210.

Disturbance, 9:55 p.m., Main Street, Lyons. Deputies responded to a noise disturbance. Both parties involved turned the noise down. One noise was music. One noise was vocal chords.

Aug. 28

Criminal MIschief, 2:16 a.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Caller reported a subject known to him slashed a tire on his pickup. $500 loss.

Suspicious Vehicle, 9:30 a.m., Cedar Mill Road, Lyons. Suspicious vehicle found at the abandoned Freres warehouse. Deputies were unable to locate anyone in or near the warehouse during this time.

Suspicious Vehicle, 9:56 a.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Suspicious vehicle found in a vacant lot. No one was located in or near the property during this time.

Phone Harassment, 10:26 a.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Caller was provided with past incidents involving a person and how to apply for a Stalking Protective Order.

Assist Other Agency, 2:39 p.m., Highway 22, Idanha. Assisted ODF and USFS with traffic control on a small fire. It appears an old campfire was the source of the start.

Assist Other Agency, 3:19 p.m., Highway 22, Idanha. Deputies came across an injury crash involving a semi truck and two passenger vehicles. Deputies assisted with treating the wounds of those involved until relieved by medics and OSP.

Criminal Mischief, 5:48 p.m., NE First Avenue, Scio. Juvenile kicked out a window on a local museum building. He was identified and cited to the juvenile department.

Warrant, 5:48 p.m., S Santiam Highway, Lebanon. Male, 45, of Scio was cited in lieu of custody for his warrant.

Forest Timber Patrol, 5:51 p.m., Highway 22, Idanha. Assisted several motorists who were lost trying to avoid the Highway 22 closure. Patrolled form 2212 on USFS to Highway 20.

Disturbance, 8:53 p.m., Crabtree Drive, Scio. Report of a disturbance where someone was thrown to the ground and rocks were thrown. All participants left prior to deputies’ arrival. Property owner stated no one was injured and everyone was at fault.

Suspicious Circumstance, 10:09 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Dispute between employees working at 7-Eleven and two customers. Parties knew each other and had a past altercation. Customers were advised to make a complaint with 7-Eleven management if they wished.

Aug. 29

Criminal Mischief, 2:15 p.m., NW Sunset Court, Mill City. While investigating a reported violation of a no-contact release agreement, deputies learned about a criminal mischief to a vehicle. This is related to the previous release agreement violation investigation. 

Suspicious Circumstance, 4:50 p.m, Hungry Hill Drive, Scio. Citizen called in a tip regarding an ongoing investigation.

Traffic Stop, 10:06 p.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for not displaying his tags correctly.

Traffic Stop, 10:37 p.m., SW Second Avenue/SW Broadway Street, Mill City. Driver warned for speeding.

Traffic Stop, 11:21 p.m., SE Grove Street/S First Avenue, Mill City. Driver cited for driving uninsured and driving without required lighting equipment.
