Aug. 2

Suspicious Vehicle, 2:12 a.m., Monument Peak Road, Gates. Deputy located suspicious vehicle. Male was contacted and advised he could not camp in his RV at the location.

Traffic Stop, 2:51 a.m., NW Alder Street, Mill City. Driver cited for driving while suspended, no insuranceand failure to renew vehicle registration.

Suspicious Person, 8:23 a.m., N Main Street, Scio. Report of a male in a wheelchair going through trash and checking doors at unopened business. No damage done. Information documented at caller’s request.

Burglary, 8:31 a.m., Fairview Street, Mill City. Report that a rental vacation home was entered and multiple items were stolen.

Domestic Disturbance, 10:11 a.m., Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Female, 28, of Mill City was arrested and charged with two counts of Assault IV and two counts of Unlawful Use of Mace, and lodged at Linn County Jail.

Traffic Hazard, 11:34 a.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Deputy spoke with male about creating traffic hazards.

Burglary, 1:13 p.m., Blowout Road, Idanha. Burglary of Stahlman Cabins. Estimated loss around $150. Ongoing investigation.

Mail Theft, 1:33 p.m., Ironwood Street, Lyons. Mail theft from multiple mailboxes along the street.

Stolen Vehicle, 3:29 p.m., Highway 226, Scio. Caller reported his vehicle was stolen while he was inside the store. Caller and friends located the vehicle. Ongoing investigation.

Assist Other Agency, 3:56 p.m., NW Alder Street/NW Second Avenue, Mill City. Deputy searched the area for a suspicious male who had been speaking with medics. Deputy contacted a male matching the description and learned he was not in need of assistance.

Suspicious Circumstance, 4:38 .m., Front and Seventh streets, Lyons. Caller reported seeing a wanted individual in the area. Deputy searched area but was unable to locate.

Suspicious Vehicle, 8:36 p.m., Cedar Mill Road, Lyons. Caller reported a suspicious abandoned vehicle. Vehicle owner advised to move vehicle.

Welfare Check, 11:55 p.m., 13th Street, Lyons. Deputy attempted to locate male regarding a welfare check. Unknown if address was current and no persons were contacted at the address.

Aug. 3

Traffic Stop, 11:52 a.m., SE Third and SE Kingwood avenues, Mill City. Driver cited for 45 MPH in 25 MPH zone.

Traffic Stop, 12:18 p.m., SE Kingwood and SE Third avenues, Mill City. Driver cited for 39 MPH in 25 MPH zone.

Suspicious Circumstance, 12:49 p.m., SE Hazel Street/S First Avenue, Mill City. Suspicious male seen trespassing on private property. Male was not present when deputies arrived.

Traffic Stop, 2:19 p.m., NE Fourth Avenue, Scio. Driver warned for speed.

Domestic Disturbance, 2:19 p.m., SW Second Avenue, Scio. Female half did not want to file a report and decided to leave to de-escalate the situation.

Burglary 9:22 p.m., Main Street, Lyons. Deputies determine possible burglary was homeowner at the residence.

Aug 4

Suspicious Person, 3:48 a.m., Stayton-Scio Road/Mertz Drive, Scio. Deputies contacted female walking on the side of the road.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle, 9:18 a.m., Kelly Road, Scio. Deputies recovered abandoned stolen trailer and veteran’s memorial motorcycle for Salem PD.

Trespass, 1:22 p.m., Blowout Road, Idanha. Male, 50, and Female, 54, arrested and issued citations for Criminal Trespass II. Couple drove an overdue U-Haul truck onto the day use boat ramp at Hoover Campground and got the back stuck in the water, blocking the ramp all day and refusing help. Deputies arrived and removed the van.

Animal Complaint, 2:14 p.m., Gates School Road, Gates. Deputy responded to two dogs that killed several goats. Dogs were returned to owner. 

Suspicious Vehicle, 3:31 p.m., Rock Creek Road, Gates. Abandoned burned car with no identifying markings.

Aug. 5

Theft, 8:25 a.m., Oupor Drive, Scio. Suspect stole more than $1,200 of S&K tools. Tools included sockets, impact sockets, wrenches, welding leads.

Found Property, 3:34 p.m., Richardson Gap Road/Rodgers Mountain Loop, Scio. Deputies responded to a report of found license plate in the ditch.

Accident, 4:33 p.m., Stayton-Scio Road/Ridge Drive, Scio. Deputies investigated a non-injury vehicle crash.

Traffic Complaint, 7:36 p.m., Juniper Street, Lyons. Deputies contacted juvenile’s father regarding reported driving complaint.

Traffic Stop, 8:47 p.m., Mehama-Lyons Highway, Lyons. Driver warned for equipment violations.

Suspicious Vehicle, 8:50 p.m., Stayton-Scio Loop/Stayton-Scio Road, Scio. Deputy spoke to caller and advised how to post a private property tow note to a vehicle.

Traffic Stop, 11:01 p.m., NE Wall Street/N First Avenue, Mill City. Driver cited for failure to renew vehicle registration.

Aug. 6

Trespass, 10:11 p.m., Highway 226, Scio. Deputies responded to vehicle abandoned and creating a hazard for property owners.

Aug. 7

Suspicious Vehicle, 1:41 a.m., Stayton-Scio Loop, Scio. Deputy investigated theft of a firearm from a vehicle and criminal mischief to the same vehicle. Ongoing investigation.

Abandoned Vehicle, 12:57 p.m., Monument Peak Road, Gates. Report of an abandoned trailer on ODF property. Owner is working on having the trailer removed.

Assault, 2:23 p.m., Highway 226, Scio. Male, 46, of Scio arrested for Physical Harassment Domestic Violence, Assault IV Domestic Violence Felony and Criminal Mistreatment in the First Degree. He was transported to Linn County Jail.

Assist Other Agency, 6:33 p.m., Highway 226, Scio. Deputies requested to assist other agency in Jordan.

UUMV, 7:27 p.m., SW Swift Avenue, Mill City. Stolen vehicle.

Disturbance, 7:32 p.m., Jordan Road, Scio. Ongoing problems at the Jordan swimming hole.

Prowler, 9:49 p.m., Stayton-Scio Road, Scio. Person prowling in the area.

Aug. 8

Mail Theft, 10:48 a.m., Ironwood Street, Lyons. Postmaster found mail belonging to Salem residents. 

Dog complaint, 11:54 a.m., Highway 226, Scio. Dog owner issued written warning for dog as a public nuisance.

Assist other agency, 1:23 p.m., Shimanek Bridge Drive, Scio. Deputy attempted follow up for other agency regarding a stolen firearm.

Disorderly Conduct, 3:21 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Deputies provided a restraining order form and educated the caller on how to go about filing it with the court.

Disturbance, 3:47 p.m., Fifth Street, Lyons. Deputies de-escalate a verbal-only dispute between Lyons city employees and a citizen.

Traffic Stop, 4:21 p.m., Highway 226, Scio. Driver cited for 78 MPH in 45 MPH zone.
