Serving the communities of Mill City, Scio, Lyons, Mehama, Gates, Detroit, and Idanha

IDRFD seeks volunteers

The Idanha-Detroit Rural Fire District (IDRFD) is looking for volunteer firefighters, volunteer medics and Fire Corps personnel. Daytime responders are in critical need, although any available time is appreciated.

IDRFD provides fire and medical emergency service to approximately 210 permanent residents, a small commercial district in each community, a church, and Detroit Lake State Park and Mongold State Park.

Volunteer firefighters must be over the age of 18. In-district residency is not a requirement as the fire district has sleeper quarters for those who want to stay for shifts. Recruit firefighters will attend the Santiam Canyon Firefighter Academy with tuition costs covered by the district.

Volunteer medics are those who are already licensed by Oregon Health Authority as Emergency Medical Responders, EMT-Basics or Paramedics.

Fire Corps personnel cover a wide spectrum of services from fundraising activities, historian/photographer, assist with paperwork/documentation, and cleaning of equipment and facilities.

If you have an interest in serving the Idanha-Detroit community, stop by the Idanha-Detroit Fire Station on the first or third Saturday of the month, call 503-854-3540, or email [email protected].

Applications can be found on the  district’s website at www.idanhadetroitfire.com.
