A Lyons resident and an Idaho resident died in the early morning hours of July 16 in a single-vehicle crash between Lyons and Mill City. In a different crash that evening, a Salem man died after a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 226 near milepost 21.
Linn County officials responded to a 2:41 a.m. call in which a 2005 Ford Focus driven by Stephanie Woooley, 27, of Lyons, crashed into a power pole. Wooley was traveling west in the 4700 block of Lyons-Mill City Drive when the crash occurred.
Wooley and her passenger, Michael Carroll Jr., 43, of Idaho, both were pronounced dead at the scene, according to a press release from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
Although officials emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, alcohol and high speed appeared to be the leading factors in the crash, the press release said.
Those with information on the incident should contact LCSO Sgt. Dusty Frenzel at 541-967-3950.
Oregon State Troopers responded to a 6:22 p.m. call that same day on Highway 226, about three miles southwest of Lyons. A gray Infiniti driven by Okasana Titarenko, 24, of Keizer, left the roadway and rolled at least twice before coming to a stop.
The passenger, Mikhail Ermolenko, 30, of Salem was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Titarenko was transported to a local area hospital as a precaution, where she was found to be under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested on a second-degree manslaughter charge and lodged at the Linn County Jail.
Troopers were assisted by Lyons Rural Fire Department and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
