Scio Music at the Market features Pamela Mortensen on the didgeridoo

On June 11 at the Scio Saturday Market, Pamela Mortensen will give a didgeridoo performance and conduct a mini didgeridoo workshop 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Her appearance is sponsored by the Linn County Cultural Coalition.

Currently based in Western Oregon, musician, composer and producer Mortensen brings her lyrical but powerful brand of didgeridoo onto the stage, street busking and in recordings as a solo instrument and in collaboration with other artists.

She shares her devotion and deep love for this ancient Aboriginal instrument with audiences and listeners all over the Western U.S. and Canada.

She uses a combination of breath, voice, articulation and composition skills to weave a colorful tapestry on an instrument that is not easy to compose for. The result is music drawn from her roots in Turkish and Scandinavian medieval folk rhythms, urban beats and atmospheric ambiance into dynamic compositions that reflect her personal evolution.

This is a free, public event at the Scio Lamb & Wool Fairgrounds, 38764 N Ash St., Scio.
