In Memoriam: Charles Scott (1927 – 2022)

Charles G Scott was born Aug. 30, 1927 in Walderville, Ore., the ninth child to Levi and Effie Pearl Scott. His mother had Typhoid fever while pregnant, and Charles was given ten years to live.

Charles went to school in Sheridan. After school, he went to Kentucky on a mission trip and met his wife, Virginia. 

The couple had five boys and two girls. The family moved back to Sheridan in 1949.

In 1951, they moved to the Mehama/Lyons area. Charles worked for Simpsons Plywood, Young and Morgan Lumber and Stuart Creek Lumber. Charles loved the outdoors and bought several acres to build their dream home. 

Charles and Virginia split up and he lived single for many years. He met his new lady in 1995. He married Buelah in November 1996. Charles and Buelah were married for six years.

 Charles retired in the 1990s. Charles served the Santiam Chapel of Lyons from 1951 until his death. He walked and talked with his savior all his life. Charles’ sons, David and Leonerd, were a great help and company to Charles for many years.   

Charles was preceded in death by his siblings, Almira, Mabel, Sybil, Levi, George, William, Evelyn and Marjorie.

Charles passed away at home in Mehama and will be interned at Lone Oak Cemetery in Stayton.
