Gates church hosts speaker for area women 

The Mary Martha Sisters group at Gates Community Church will host Christian women’s speaker Janice Mathers on April 12.

Mathers is a conference and retreat speaker who specializes in encouraging women to see adverse situations as godly challenges. An award-winning former member of Toastmasters International, Mathers speaks with imagination and humor.

Mathers is a speaker consultant and member of the board of directors for Stonecroft, an international organization committed to helping women connect with each other, their communities and with God. She is a contributing writer to 17 books and author of four.

The event begins at 2 p.m. April 12 at Gates Community Church of Christ, 40070 Gates School Road. The event is free; however, a love offering will be accepted to cover Mathers’ expenses.
