Lyons Fire office closed to public
Due to the high risk of Covid-19 spreading the Lyons Fire District Office will be closed to the public until further notice. If you have concerns or questions please call 503-859-2410. If you have an emergency call 911.

Middle school basketball registration
Boys basketball registration for seventh and eighth grader at Mari-Linn School is now open. Practice begins Jan. 18. The registration deadline is Jan. 21. Information is available at the school or at nsantiam. k12.or.us/sms.

Firemen to pick up Christmas trees
Members of the Mill City Volunteer Fire Department will pick up and dispose of used Christmas trees Jan. 8. The cost of the service is a donation of four or five cans of food, which will be donated to the local food basket program. Call the Mill City fire hall at 503-897-2390 and leave a message with your name, address, and a phone number.

Gates is giving away free firewood
The city of Gates is giving away surplus cord wood and wood chips beginning Jan. 15. Residents can cut and haul one cord of wood or one pickup load of wood chips from the intersection of Riverview and E Central streets in Gates. A Gates Activity Participation Agreement must be turned in to City Hall before anyone can cut or haul the wood. For more information, contact Greg Benthin, Public Works director, at 503-400-3358.

Scio Youth Club seeks referees
The Scio Youth Club is in search of basketball referees for the upcoming third – sixth grade basketball season. This is a paid position. If interested, email [email protected].
